Chapter 3: You Lost Again

Jing Ning looked at her, feeling nothing but disgust at the sight of her weak, helpless appearance. She coldly pushed her away. "Don't touch me!" Although she hadn’t used much force, Jing Xiaoya stumbled, screamed, and collapsed to the ground. "Xiaoya!" Mu Yanze rushed over, catching her in his arms. He growled angrily, "Jing Ning! What are you doing?" "I didn’t..." Jing Ning's expression changed slightly as she instinctively tried to explain but was interrupted by Jing Xiaoya. "Brother Aze, don’t blame my sister. It’s my fault for tempting you. Even if she just pushed me, or hit me or scolded me, it’s deserved." Jing Ning’s pupils contracted, her face filled with shock. She looked up and met Mu Yanze’s eyes, which were filled with utter disappointment. "I never imagined you’d turn out like this. This is my fault—if you’re angry, take it out on me! What does Xiaoya have to do with this?" She opened her mouth to explain, but the words stuck in her throat, like a thorn lodged deep inside, causing her pain. "You think… I pushed her?" "Didn't I see it with my own eyes? I always thought you were just a little cold, but still a good person. Today, I’ve learned that you're actually heartless and vindictive. I’ve been wrong about you all these years." Jing Ning stood there, unable to believe what she had just heard. She turned to look at Jing Xiaoya, whose eyes flashed with malice and smugness. A chill began to spread through her chest. After a moment, she let out a sarcastic laugh, her smile bitter and mocking. "Mu Yanze, it’s only now that I realize how truly stupid you are!" "What did you say?" "Nothing. Aren’t you two in love? Fine, I’ll make it easy for you. A bowl that’s been used to hold excrement—no matter how much you wash it, no one will ever use it to hold food again, right?" Mu Yanze’s face changed. He hadn’t expected this normally composed woman to say such vulgar and disgusting things. He darkened. "Jing Ning! Don’t get too carried away!" Jing Ning sneered, her smile cold. She pulled out a handkerchief and wiped the spot where Jing Xiaoya had touched her earlier, her tone dismissive. "Fine! I don’t have time to waste on you two. From now on, please take your little canary and get out of my sight! I wish you two..." Her eyes narrowed, a mocking glint appearing in her gaze, and she laughed lightly. "...a slut and a dog, may you last forever!" With that, she turned on her heel and walked away, not giving them a chance to speak. Mu Yanze stood there, seething with rage. "What do you mean? Get back here!" "Brother Aze..." At that moment, Jing Xiaoya suddenly grabbed his arm, her face pale, clutching her stomach. "Brother Aze, it hurts so much." Mu Yanze’s face changed instantly. "Xiaoya, what’s wrong?" "I don’t know..." A streak of blood dripped down from Jing Xiaoya’s inner thigh. Mu Yanze’s pupils contracted, his body trembling in shock. "Don’t worry, I’ll take you to the hospital right now." ... Mu Yanze rushed Jing Xiaoya to the hospital. Jing Ning sat in her car, watching their car drive away in the distance, a mocking smile playing on her lips. She didn’t go home. Instead, she drove to Lihua Hotel. The first floor of the hotel was a large nightclub, filled with flashing lights, loud music, and an atmosphere of indulgence. She leaned against the bar, drinking one glass after another. Normally, she wasn’t someone who sought solace in alcohol, but at this moment, it seemed like nothing else could numb the sharp pain in her heart. In front of Mu Yanze and Jing Xiaoya, she could act cold, heartless, and dignified. But only she knew the depth of the pain she was hiding inside. Six years of love, and in the end, it all fell apart over a lie. While she was wholeheartedly hoping to grow old with him, he had been in bed with another woman. How ironic! Jing Ning raised her glass and poured herself another drink. Though she usually had a strong tolerance for alcohol, she was already starting to feel the effects. Her phone suddenly vibrated in her bag. With blurry eyes, she fumbled for her phone, answering the call. "Who is it?" "It’s me, sister. You lost again." It was Jing Xiaoya. Jing Ning’s lips curled into a mocking smile. "Did you call just to rub it in? To show me how proud you are?" Jing Xiaoya chuckled. "Sister, you probably don’t know, but I’m pregnant." Jing Ning’s expression immediately hardened. She glanced coldly at the people dancing wildly in the nightclub, her voice flat. "What do you want me to do about it? I’ve never been with you." "The child is Aze’s. He told me just now that he’ll marry me soon. You know, in the six years you were together, he never touched you. To put it nicely, it was platonic; to put it bluntly, he never had any interest in you. He felt nauseous just looking at you." Jing Ning’s hands tightened into fists, her nails digging into her palms. "Do you know? Every day we’re together, we sleep together. He says being with me is the easiest and happiest thing, especially compared to you! You’re always so cold, like a corpse, with no passion. Other women know how to be gentle and pleasing to their men, but if you were put in a crowd, you’d just look like another man yourself! Being with you is like being in a homosexual relationship!" Jing Ning clenched her fists even tighter. Her heart felt like it was being torn apart, the pain unbearable. She took a deep breath and, after a moment, let out a bitter laugh. "Jing Xiaoya, I thought you were more sophisticated, but is that all you have to say?" "Sister, if you’re angry, you should express it. I won’t laugh at you." "Why should I be angry? After all, you're the one who treats discarded trash as treasure. No matter how clean you wash a towel that’s wiped someone’s ass, it still smells like s**t. Don’t you feel disgusted using it to wipe your face?" "You!" "Enough! I don’t have time to argue with you! Consider this a warning. Don’t try to provoke me again, because you won’t be able to handle the consequences when I get really angry!" With that, she hung up the phone. Her heart wasn’t completely numb to the pain. Although she didn’t say anything, Jing Xiaoya’s words still pierced her heart. She remembered what Mu Yanze had told her when they first started dating. He said he liked her because she was pure and aloof, like a snow-covered mountain flower—something that could only be admired from afar, someone people wanted to protect. He believed the most beautiful love was platonic, a spiritual love without physical desire. The reality was that, behind her back, he had been with Jing Xiaoya and even got her pregnant. A wave of bitter irony rose in her chest. She raised her hand to cover her face, feeling her eyes sting with tears. Just then, someone suddenly tapped her shoulder. "Well, if it isn’t the eldest daughter of the Jing family. Out this late by yourself? Don’t tell me you’re here to deliver goods again?" Jing Ning turned and saw several young women standing there, dressed provocatively. The leader was none other than Mu Yanze’s sister, Mu Hongxiao.
