Chapter Six

667 Words
Isabella skipped up the steps to her room and had a quick shower before getting ready for her first day in New York. Isabella took her time to do her makeup, wanting to make a good first impression and settled for nudes, browns and golds for a more understated and natural look with a tiny wing on the eyeliner for a more dramatic finish. She brushed her long curls and ran a serum through it to give it the natural curly bounce effect she desired.  Next it was time to find a killer outfit. She walked through her bathroom and into a large walk in wardrobe. A lot of her clothes had already been moved here and organised  by Betty before Isabella arrived. It was still cold in New York seeing as it was only January and that meant she’d have to wrap up warm. Isabella flicked through her clothes and picked out a pair of skin tight denim jeans to pair with a camel cashmere knitted jumper, nude thigh high boots with a block wedge and a fluffy camel coloured fur coat. In the fashion capital of the country she had no choice but to make extra effort. Next she went to her lingerie drawers and picked out a tiny black lace thong and bra set, no one would be seeing it but it would definitely give her more confidence. She quickly got dressed and stood in front of the mirror, giving herself the once over and smiled, she looked good.  Making her way down the stairs, Isabella was surprised to find her cousin already sat in the kitchen, eating one of the pastries that Betty had made for breakfast and talking on the phone. “I told you, I can’t today. I got my baby cousin with me, she just got here.” He stopped his conversation and showed a boyish smile when he spotted Isabella, a flake of pastry still on his lip before crumbling down onto his T-shirt. “Alright, alright. I’ll drop by on the way but it’s got to be quick.” Johnny ended the phone call without a goodbye and stood up. “Look at you, what are we doing, modelling for fashion week?” Johnny stood and gestured for Isabella to turn around, something she obliged, loving the positive attention. “You like it?” “Sure, you look good Bella. You ready to go? Betty, thanks for the coffee and pastry, I might have to move in just for your breakfasts.” Johnny laughed whilst laying on the charm and heading for the front door.  Johnny was a few years older than Isabella, having just turned twenty three. Just like her father, he was over six feet tall but with a stocky build. His black hair was long and floppy on the top but faded around the sides and back, he looked like he belonged to a 90s boyband. His skin was sun kissed and covered in tattoos, something Isabella’s aunt, his mother, had gone mad about several times. He was stereotypically handsome, with a smile that could light up a whole room and good bone structure which served him well with potential girlfriends. Johnny always seemed to know what to say, who to say it to and when the right time was. He was always laughing and funny and someone Isabella had always looked up to.  Putting his arm around his little cousin, Johnny guided Isabella toward his car. It was a white  BMW 1 series with personalised plates. It was his pride and joy. “So, I got to make a quick pit stop and then the day is ours, you thought about what you want to do?” He said as he got into the drivers seat beside Isabella. “I have to go shopping for something to wear later, but otherwise I don’t know. You’re going to have to show me the best places.” “Gotcha, don’t worry about that Bells, you’ll know the place better than most with a tour guide like me.” Johnny flashed Isabella a smile before peeling away from the sidewalk.
