Chapter 2: Enlistment

I was inches in front of the door at this point. I reached my hand out to grab the handle and pulled it towards me and stepped inside. the recruiter smiled at me and asked me if I was interested in joining the Army. I answered with a yes. hehanded me a clipboard of a few papers and I quickly filled them out and handed them back. The officer told me to take a seat and a bus will be here shortly. More and more men were entering the building at this point even a few women walked in and enlisted. By the end of the hour there was at least 40 men and women sitting down waiting for the bus to arrive.

The recruiter told us that the bus would be here in 10 minutes and we should feel free to talk and move around. I held still for a minute. Than a guy behind me tapped me on the shoulder and asked me my name. I told him my name is Micheal.. " nice to meet you, my name is jacob". He asked me why I wanted to join and I told him that my grandpa served and I wanted to be just like him. Before he could say anything the bus pulled up and the doors opened up. We all grabbed our bags and walked out to the bus the recruiter said he will take care of our vehicles and told us good luck out there. I stepped inside the bus and put my bags above an empty seat and sat down. A random woman sat next to me as the bus began to roll away....
