Saying that death leads to a new place is just a story we tell to ease our pain and make goodbye easier. Wherever your soul has drifted, may it be as peaceful as a feather floating on the wind.
I rushed outside, overwhelmed by the flood of emotions coursing through me. I gripped my chest, hoping to ease the pain. I tried to divert my attention from the distressing thoughts and concentrate on calming myself down, but to no avail.
Seconds later, I felt a gentle caress. Damien cradled me in his arms. I could feel the warmth of his embrace on my skin. He didn’t say anything but I could feel his care. I hugged him back, even tighter than he did. It was ironic to think that I had wanted to exact revenge on him in the past, but now I clung to him as if my life depended on him.
