Amara’s POV.
“Alpha!”
Our peaceful morning was disrupted when one of the pack guards came rushing up to us, someone we had assumed was on patrol. Damien frowned as he looked at him, waiting for him to say something.
“Alpha… We found a dead body near the lake,” he said, his voice filled with distress and concern.
“Do you know who it is?” Gamma Ralph asked, a bite of ham halfway to his mouth.
The pack guard looked uneasy and unsure whether to tell the truth or conceal it. Sweat glistened on his brow as he struggled to keep his hands from trembling. A crease formed on my forehead in response to his reaction.
