Amara’s POV.
I laid peacefully in our bed, fast asleep, as the morning sunlight filtered through the curtains. Suddenly, a series of knocks echoed from outside the door, stirring Damien from his slumber. Groggy, he slowly opened one eye.
“I’ll go check,” he murmured, still drowsy.
He pulled himself out of bed. With one eye sealed shut, he shuffled towards the door. With a creak, he swung it open. Our two pups, Daniel and Lily, burst through the doorway, giggling and full of energy. They leaped onto the bed, catching me off guard. Yet, rather than being startled, I couldn’t help but break into laughter myself. They showered me with affectionate hugs, their tiny arms wrapping around me.
