Malleteagan’s POV
With our gazes cast down, we were butchering through in skirmish with Veltalas, chopping their skulls off with chthonic axes and advancing through the vast space of the main Morsburg dungeon. Without the ability to see and use eyesight as a lead in the fight, we had to rely on our other senses entirely. I have lost a few more omegas, and Thersar lost a few lesser faes. Nexelex lost a few warriors, too, while Kandreah lost none. When we finally managed to break through and get to the dungeon's exit, we ended up in an enormous space in front of Morsburg's central dungeon. We were breaking through the town of Morsburg now.
I finally lifted my gaze. Darkness and chaos that heavily saturated the interior of Morsburg dungeons were grazed and broken by purple and neon crimson lightning hues wrapped in the all-present purple fog of Wengarthria. The broad front entrance of the Morsburg encampment was closed off with smaller dungeon-like derelict towers on the left and right. Scillas were poking their heads through their windows, hissing and screeching. Scillas were skeleton-like creatures similar to morphed Veltalas, but their bodies were laced with what looked like an electric current. Unlike Vetalas, Scillas had bat-like skeletal wings. Each flap of their wings would emit electric force. In front of us was a broad bridge covered with concrete slabs, each slab decorated with pentagrams that belched fire and purple haze entangled with zaps of electric current. At the end of the bridge was Morsanctu. Morsanctu was a faceless succubus, three times bigger than me. I don’t get it. I’m a legit tall bloke, even in my human form and in here, everyone seems to be bigger than me. Just wondering what Morsanctu looks like from Nexelex’s perspective, I thought to myself with an involuntary snigger formed on my lips as I glanced at Nexelex. “What are you laughing at, git? Focus there,” the dwarf said and pointed to Morsanctu.
Morsanctu looked like a gigantic Scilla molten of embers and fire. I got a glimpse of faded contours of amber flakes behind her. It was part of the build-up of armour. This barrier, similar to the one that separated Damnarynth and Morsburg, was an armour boundary between Morsburg and Waltherra. Scillas surrounding us would encircle the victim with their wings and would devour their souls. As soon as they assimilate the soul, their skeletons radiate a new wave of energy. We were cutting their heads off with chthonic axes as fast as possible. But there were too many of them. Morsanctu ominously flew above the battlefield, assessing and scanning the scenery of an absolute chaos and mas.sacre. We have lost many warriors. On the other hand, many Scillas have fallen, too. It was a long and arduous battle, but after several hours of mayhem, we tipped the winning odds in our favour.
Enraged, Morsanctu then landed on the ground and squashed many warriors in the process. As her feet made contact with pentagrams on the pavement, a shuck of electricity current surged through the ground beneath us. Thersar’s, Kandreah’s and mine auras slipped out with a command to our warriors to leap up from the ground while Nexelex snarled at his warriors to jump off the ground. It was a near miss, an electrocution that we survived. She repeated this many times, and in each of her electric shock tantrums, we would lose a couple of lower-ranked warriors.
She would simultaneously stomp with her feet while swiping with her wings left and right while our armies were in mid-jump. Gosh, this looks like some diabolical fitness session where we are forced to jump like we are on a bloody bouncy castle. If her attack continues with this tempo, we are going down as a bunch of boo-boo dolls. With each swipe of her wing, she would scythe and assimilate the souls of our soldiers. Dwarves were decimated. As Morsanctu focused on myself and Thersar, Kandreah did a backward somersault. His movements were hard to be caught by an eye. It has to be admitted bloodsucking dickhead is a fantastic warrior but a shitty person…leech…whatever.
The next moment, he was on Morsanctu’s back, clinging onto her like a pesky spider. Scillaes were flying around them and sending the electric current in a bid to shock and electrocute Kandreah.
The flashback of the fight between Nexelex and Sentaya came to mind. Morsanctu thrashed and screeched surreally, flapping her wings, causing electric waves to be sent off across the Morsburg battlefield. Kandreah axed her head with a chthonic axe in a swift and precise move. Morsanctu fell on the ground with a thud, raising a whirl of purple smoke and fog which rose in the air. The remaining Scillas dispersed in thick air. An amethyst fog that souls sucked in by Morsanctu sodded, rippled through his axe inscribing “scintillae” on it, next to “flamma”, and an amethyst gem had etched on the hilt of his axe.
Armour between Morsburg and Waltherra dropped down abruptly, revealing the purple mist and ominous, eldritch contours of the lost town of Waltherra in the distance. Before we even managed to catch our breath and rest from the fight in Morsburg, Azabras emerged, penetrating the Morsburg bridge and preventing us from advancing into Waltherra. Azabrah’s were guardians of Waltherra, creatures of Lycan size but of fox-like features. Instead of arms that would end with hands and fingers, they had three scythes on each hand that oozed with purple haze and smoke. Azabrahs are rumoured to be strong telepaths with powerful mind and hypnotic controlling abilities. Their ability to control the mind made them one of the hell's most powerful tormentors. Azabrahs were rumoured to be able to detect the greatest fear of the one and use it against the one who is to be tortured, driving them into madness.
