The Beginning of the End 11

636 Words
Had Patrick waited two minutes before entering the diner he would have seen Ailwi coming out of the cemetery down the street. Ailwi was now walking toward the diner thinking about how and where to set up the next trap, at some point the light elf would show himself and he was determined to have and keep the upper hand. He was deep in thought as he passed the brightly lit diner, and again had he only been aware of his surroundings he would have seen Patrick setting in a booth giving his order to the waitress. Ailwi continued up the street, paying the gathering ravens no thought, he was so wound up in his planning that he walked into the street and was almost hit by a police cruiser. With a stretch of breaks, and the whop whop of the siren, the red and blue lights began to flash as the officer got out of the car. “What in God’s name are you doing man, get back on the sidewalk and show me some I.D.” the officer demanded as he walked toward the stranger. The flashing lights brought Ailwi back from his deep thoughts and he looked momentarily confused, then he noticed the retched little human daring to order him around. He c****d his head and watched the little man, slightly amused as he came closer still ordering him to get on something called a side-walk, he didn’t know what it was, nor did he care. Once the man was close enough Ailwi reached out and, grabbing the man’s head, turned it until there was an audible snap. As the lifeless body fell to the ground, he continued on his way leaving the lifeless body laying in a heap on the ground. He soon came upon a church with yet another small graveyard, it would appear that his dark plans would consist mostly of draugar, the zombie like creatures his father had favored for a millennia. He did not care for them, their smell offended his highly sensitive sense of smell, but they are very useful, as well as very durable, they can sustain a large amount of damage during battle and continue to fight. Using such creatures was tricky though, the light one can take control of them as well, he would have to decide on just how many he could successfully control at one time and not have any more than that. He turned to enter the small graveyard and, looking back down the street as he did so, he noticed a small crowd of humans gathering around the flashing lights. He smiled and entered the graveyard. Patrick had heard the commotion and with half the dinner went outside to see what was going on. He hurried over to the police car and saw that there was a dead officer laying on the ground, his head almost twisted off. ‘The Dark One,’ he thought as a few men that had followed him pushed by to get a better look. He looked around, the kill was still fresh so the dark one may still be around, being night though would make it harder to see his dark aura, but he had to try. The sooner the two met, the sooner the battle could begin. He knew that traps were being set all over the little town, and the dark one would continue to do so until they finally met. He had to step up now and put all his effort into finding his in order to protect the population of the small town. Unnoticed by the growing crowd, he turned and walked back in the direction of the dinner, now lost in his own thoughts. The growing number of ravens letting him know that the battle was drawing closer every day.
