Sean felt as if everything was unreal. Like it was a dream. He had long accepted the fact that a child like him would never have the privilege to go to school and have an education. They couldn't even have enough to eat. He never hoped for something for himself. His tears welled when he saw the stacks of educational supplies that Elma had bought for him.
Where did she get the money for this?
When Sean came to his senses, he hurried to the kitchen and tried to return the things to Elma. "Elma, I don't want these, you should take them back... return them and buy food instead."
Elma didn't overlook the struggle and reluctance in his eyes. This was the fear of poverty and hunger. Therefore, she didn't blame this child for being stingy and didn't blame him for being upset
