8 | Little Family

Here I was walking around the busy streets of New York to find me a nice suitable job to be working in, my hands rubbed against each other. I see a small new coffee shop with a hiring sign stamped on the door.   Smiling I pushed it open to greet an old lady with striking grey eyes, she gives me a huge smile clapping her hands together. "Oh my god, my first customer please help yourself."   "I'm actually here to get a job? If that’s still okay." Her eyes widened and she nodded her head pulling me to settle down onto the comfortable chair.   "Of course, you're hired, you can start on Monday morning and I will show you how everything works with my granddaughter." I played with my fingers underneath the table and nodded my head.   "That’s amazing, thank you so much."   "No problem, I just opened a few days ago so I do need the help." . . . It was Christmas Eve tomorrow and here I was sitting alone in front of the huge Christmas tree in on this uncomfortable wooden bench, the apartment light of the sky scrapers were open so I could see families sitting together and popping party crack... It was Christmas Eve tomorrow and here I was sitting alone in front of the huge Christmas tree in on this uncomfortable wooden bench, the apartment light of the sky scrapers were open so I could see families sitting together and popping party crackers.   It hurt seeing everyone so happy, all I wanted was to celebrate with someone for the first time and not be alone. His words hurt the other day. He was my soulmate yet he said he would kill himself if he was with me.   I mean everyone leaves me so why not be alone for the next thirty years of my life, maybe I should get a dog yet I can't even feed my self. I needed a job as soon as possible. I think I'm going to apply on that small coffee shop down the road tomorrow.   I held the photo frame in my hands and dropped a small tear on my mother face, "Merry Christmas to me." I whispered slightly breathing in the cold air.   "Hello there, I'm Noah," I look up seeing a man with striking blue perfect round eyes, blonde scruffy hair that fell on the side of his face. His jaw was sharp but not as sharp as Damion's. He was tall but not too tall maybe about 6'3.   "Hello, Ava."   "Alone on Christmas?" I nodded my head letting out a small laugh as he sat down beside me staring into the horizon.   "Yeah, I'm used to it anyways. You?" He shrugged his shoulder turning to face me, our eyes clicked but not like the way it did with that bastard.   "Yeah, but I kind of like it. Are you having dinner with a special someone tomorrow.”? I snorted at his joke and he raised his eyebrows laughing at my laugh.   "My soulmate doesn't like me; I think he's going to reject me." Was he though? We were talking for what felt like hours, he made me laugh here and there and I to him. I enjoyed his company and I finally felt wanted by someone.   "He's an absolute i***t, doesn't deserve you at all then." Leaning on the bench back I was thinking before I hear his voice. "Do you want to go to dinner tomorrow? With me." My eyes widened and I bit onto my lips before nodding my head.   "Sure, here’s my number but I need to go home now." He handed me his phone and I typed in my phone number with my name before handing it back to him.   "Great, I will text you what restaurant and meet you there by seven pm." I smiled nodding my head once more as I stood up walking away from him.   The blush on my cheeks rose to a million degrees and I let out a small scream of excitement. This was going to be my second date in my entire life with a new man and I was excited. Reaching my apartment, I pushed open the door and walked straight to the bedroom to figure out what to wear for tomorrow. I hear my phone buzzing and slip it out of my pocket to find Noah sending me a message, I jumped on my bed like a little schoolgirl and opened it.
