CHARLES'S POV:
Through the darkness, the car yanks us through so fast that I honestly didn’t have time to catch my breath. I tried with all might to protect Pearl when our bodies slammed into the seats, but her power was nothing as I had ever witnessed before.
Pearl’s eyes flashed from amber yellow to lavender. Her pupils grew darker and darker the further we traveled through the tunnel. Her marking on the center of her forehead blinded Ms. Biddleworth, forcing her to cover herself with her forearms on the steering wheel.
As fast as he could, Richard gathers his seatbelt and rips it across his chest. “You guys better buckle up. We may be in for a rough landing!”
