Harvey's POV
Harvey couldn't help but be distracted by the scent in the air - like juicy peaches and sunlight and everything good. His mouth watered as he found himself leading his pack slightly off of the planned course. They were supposed to go through the forest, emerging from the other side of the town to drive them back to the stream. But, no, he found himself chasing that scent and in turn, leading his entire pack after it. Even with the mix of fear, it was the sweetest scent that he had ever come across.
He was so focused on the wolf he was tracking, it was easy for him to locate the lines that she was casting out.
'Intruders, intruders inbound!' Danced through his head, the urgency of the voice made his heart race as he snarled. The hunt was on.
'It's too late, pup,' Harvey responded as he leaned his head down lower, picking up the pace. Being so focused on the hunt, it was easy for him to locate the sound of the other wolf in the forest that wasn't in his pack. He heard the footfalls sputter to a halt and the whimper that made its way through the tree branches.
Close.
The distance between the two closed but once they reached the edge of the tree line, Harvey held himself back from chasing the scent further. His sense was finally coming back to him. He had to be a leader right now.
He took the time to gather his thoughts slightly before he growled, letting his wolf rally the pack and give them directions. Even while he was at the top, barking orders, he couldn't help but be distracted. What was that he had smelled? Who was that?
It wasn't too long before he had his answer. His pack had advanced to the inner most part of the town, right at the center building. He found himself distracted on the battlefield, fighting his way through whoever got in his way. He even nipped at one of his own pack members once, someone who had leaped in front of him and gotten in his way. Harvey had one thing on his mind, and his wolf had a whole other.
Finally, once the battle was calming down and there were just a couple straggling fights between the packs, Harvey's eyes landed on his prey. It was a fairly small-sized silver wolf, struggling against one of his pack members. She was smaller than most medium-sized wolves, but definitely not one of the smallest Harvey had seen. She was giving off the most sour notes to that sweet scent as she struggled. Fear, disgust, worry all tainted the sweet smell that Harvey could still smell underneath.
Shifting back to his human form, he peered around his pack at the wolf as she shifted back to her human form, too. She seemed oblivious to him, her sole focus on fighting the Beta on top of her and Sebastian, who was headed to the house. Harvey could tell that his Beta, Kat, had eased up so that the human body was not being crushed under her.
Harvey let out a sharp whistle, stopping Sebastian in his tracks and gaining everyone else's attention. "We got what we came for," he called out, already turning his back to head the way that they had come.
"Bring her," he added, making his way through the battlefield of bodies that were already quickly healing.
* * * *
Harvey was sitting at his desk, fidgeting as he thought about the girl that was currently locked away. Goddess, did she drive him insane.
She was practically all he could think about since he had first smelled her, and it was only made worse when he actually saw her. The silver wolf and the cute blonde spitfire with bright blue eyes and freckles that the wolf protected. He had no idea what to tell his pack when they questioned his choice. He wasn't sure how to tell him that the other packs Beta was his mate, so... he hadn't yet. But it has been so hard to refrain from going down to where she was being kept and sniff at her through the door.
Growling, he reached down and rubbed at his hardening c**k through his clothes. He couldn't help his reaction, every time he thought about her scent he couldn't help but go a little crazy. And he couldn't help the fact that he had only ever seen her naked.
Groaning, he let his head fall back as he remembered her body laid out. He snarled a bit at the mental image of Kat laying across his mate.
He was pulled out of his thoughts by a knock on his chamber doors. He growled but tried to keep most of the annoyance out of his voice.
"What?" he snapped, glaring a bit at the guard that opened the doors.
"She has woken up, prince," the guard informed him, bowing his head in submission. Harvey sat up a little straighter, intrigued.
"Bring her to me," he demanded, remembering what he was just doing and decided to add, "And get her a gown." Settling back, he drummed his fingers on his desk before going on. "And get her something to drink, put some of the sedative in it. And don't forget the cuffs," he smirked, settling back in his seat.
The sedative will keep her scent blocked enough so that hopefully he could feel her out slightly. If she finds out that she is his mate now, she may just try to walk all over him. No, he must figure her out before he lets her know. It should be fun to play with her a bit.
Nothing harmful, of course. He wouldn't do that. But he could toy with her and see just what sort of wolf she is. Will she try to escape? Charm her way out? Just completely submit to him?
Somehow all of the possibilities appeal to him. A fighter, a smooth talker, his personal slave? A shiver ran through him and he decided that, yes, he should probably deal with things quickly before her scent floods the room. He pulled himself out of his pants and began working himself quickly, picturing her body laid out under his wolf.
