"Yes, Setson," Deena said smugly. "What about your fiancé, Mary? Surly she isn't okay with you and Violet... hanging out after all this time."
"Honestly, Setson, what are you thinking?" My dad said. "This is going to crush Mary. I thought that she had just come out to see you."
"She did," I stated. "We broke up."
Everyone in the room looked shocked, well, except Violet. I know that everyone else thought that what Mary and I had was real. Mary was the first girl I gave a real chance to after Violet. But that just wasn't the truth.
Mary asked me what I was going to do if she was brought up. She told me that she didn't think it was smart for us to have the break-up now. Everyone would blame Violet.
