Pam placed her other hand over her mouth to prevent a scream escaping. “What’s the matter?” Derek asked, re-emerging through the front door. Pam looked at him, her eyes wide in shock. She pointed towards the top of the house, without saying a word. Derek came down the steps to join her, and looked up, following the line of her finger. He, too, had to strain his eyes, but all he could see were the empty windows staring back at them.
