NOELIA'S POV. "Where have you been?" My mother's voice filled the room like a rock hitting me at the bottom. Keren stood next to her. I wondered how Keren managed to get home without me. Everything seemed so strange. I had visited the clubhouse to pick up my purse and phone. I realized I had missed calls from both my mom and Keren. "Hey Noelia, I'm talking to you," mom said while walking towards me by the front door. "Noelia, we were really concerned about you," Keren said with a worried expression on her face. "I'm fine, mom. Right now, all I need is a quick shower. I’ve got to leave for the interview, so I have to start preparing before I run late," I stated before swiftly disappearing to my room, cutting off my mother's response. I couldn't just stand there and allow my mother to shower me with questions. After I got ready and left the apartment with Keren following me, my mother told me we'd continue the conversation when I returned. "Girlfriend, where did you stay overnight?" Keren spoke, and I gave her an irritated grin in response. "What's going on with you?" Keren brought up. "Where did you spend the night?" she added while we walked towards the bus station. "At the club," I answered in a nervous voice, struggling to maintain a composed expression. I didn't want anything more than to avoid telling Keren about last night's encounter. Despite my limited understanding of the situation, it was advisable to remain silent about it. "Noelia, you can't trick me," Keren commented. "You can't deceive me either, Keren. You promised to have my back at the party, so why did you leave without me? I reversed sharply. "I apologize." Keren muttered instantly. "Alright." During the journey to the Smith Construction Enterprise, Keren and I maintained a profound silence, and I hoped that the interview would go well. ********************** "I landed the position! I got the job!" I yelled while raising my hands in the air as I hurried into the apartment. My mom's lips curled into a sweet smile as she came towards me with open arms. I was unable to contain the happiness I experienced within me. Despite recalling the events of the previous night, I refused to let it influence my joy over securing a great job. “I am so happy for you,” my mother conveyed while embracing me tightly. "Thank you so much, momma," I said. I didn't get the opportunity to inform Keren about it as she had already left work before Mr. Henry Adams' completed the interview. I cannot understand how I got picked for the position because there were a lot of intelligent people present. "Are you ready to share with me where you stayed overnight?" My mom asked, causing the smile to gradually vanish from my face. "I prefer not to discuss it," I answered. "But you must! What happened, Noelia? Why do you hide things from me?" My mother asked. Frustration was etched in her voice. "I think I should go to bed." I walked upstairs to my bedroom without uttering another word. The most unfortunate part of the situation is that I cannot seem to recall anything from the previous night. Attempting to push away the thoughts, I chose to have a conversation with Keren for some time and informed her about the job news over the phone. (Several days later) "Are you going to work for the dude who sleeps with anyone in a skirt?" As Keren and I were going to work, Jonathan, my ex-boss, said. "Stay away from our business," Keren gave him a fierce look while Jonathan chuckled at us and then vanished into thin air. "Could it be true?" I inquired of Keren when Jonathan departed. Following the incident with Jonathan at the cafeteria, I don't want another boss like him. He had attempted to r**e me. That's the main reason I stopped working at his cafeteria. "Do not mind him," Keren said while giving my shoulder a comforting pat. All of a sudden, I noticed my eyelids drooping, a slight headache forming, and my palms becoming slightly damp. "Are you alright?" Keren inquired, most likely observing the expression on my face. "I am not okay," I confessed. Since the day after the party, I have been experiencing a weird feeling in my stomach. The level of my headache has increased. "You'll be fine, Noel," Keren reassured me as we hopped into the cab she had flagged down. I heaved a sigh of relief when we arrived at work. Luckily, the president was not present, which allowed me to relax a bit. Although he wasn't present, his orders were already placed on my secretary's desk. Henry Adams also provided me with a key to enter the office of the company's president. "Could I have some coffee with no sugar?" I asked the woman in charge of the coffee stand for the company staff. I signed on the book she had passed on to me before I received the coffee and strode back to the president's office. As I unlocked the president's office, I was struck by its impressive appearance. The office was organized neatly and gave me the sensation of being in a completely different realm. The furniture was shiny. The books were arranged on the shelves. Documents were piled up neatly on the desk. The office surface and couch were all organized, with the artwork adding to its overall beauty. As soon as I set the coffee down on the desk, the door suddenly swung open. I raised my eyes and saw him standing there. A young man wearing a tailored black suit, sleek dark hair, and piercing blue eyes. Those eyes! Images flashes through my mind immediately I locked eyes with him, but I couldn't understand. JAYDEN'S POV. "Good day, sir," she greeted, but what I could do was stand there and stare deeply into her green eyes. This cannot be. Recollections of our night together raced through my mind, and I experienced a sudden pang of guilt in my heart. "Here is your coffee cup, sir," she said, pulling me out of my thoughts. "Get out!" The words popped out of my lips as I made my way to my desk. "Alright, sir," she said. A confused look plastered on her face as she turned to exit my office. "Hold on!" I said, and she stopped at the door right away. Does this mean that she does not even recall anything? Even if it is just a fragment? It would not be favorable if she does, my inner voice cautioned, and it is right. The last thing I need is for her to remember the night we shared. “What brings you here?” I inquired. “I have been assigned as your new secretary, sir,” she replied, her eyes fixed on the floor. “Drink the coffee,” I commanded. “But it’s your coffee?” she protested. “It is an order! Drink that coffee immediately!” I asserted, raising my voice. She quickly took a sip, and I observed her hands trembling during the action. “Is it cold or warm?” I asked. “A bit cold,” her gentle voice sent chills down my spine. I felt an overwhelming urge to possess her right then and there. What is wrong with me? “Reheat the coffee and leave,” I instructed before turning away to face the opposite side of the office as she exited. *********************** “What have you done, Henry?” were the words that escaped my lips the moment I summoned him to my office. “What do you mean, buddy?” he asked, raising an eyebrow, and that was when I realized I had not informed Henry about the entire incident from that night. “Where did you find that woman? That new secretary?” I demanded, clenching my fists. “From the interview. Noelia Larson is the ideal candidate,” he replied. Noelia is her name. Interesting. “I do not care if she is the ideal candidate. I need you to remove her from my life permanently,” I stated, running my hands through my hair and pacing back and forth in my office. “But she just arrived! Has she done anything wrong?” Henry’s questions were beginning to irritate me. “I slept with her,” the words slipped from my lips, causing Henry’s eyes to widen. “She was the woman I was with the other night at the clubhouse after you left." I could not hide it from Henry. He needed to know... Will Jayden fire Noelia to prevent the secret from being revealed?
