KAEL I set the cup on the table behind Soren. And I swear I heard him mutter some s**t under his breath. “Don't worry about it…” I side stepped him and took a seat. A maid came forward to serve my meal like usual but not trusting that they didn't have anything shady going on, I lifted a hand in the air, stopping her. I dished the food myself, using my sense of smell to try to pick out anything out of the ordinary. Not picking anything, I dug in. Soren slid back in his seat, possibly embarrassed but who the f**k cared. I chewed silently, not sparing anyone a glance. From time to time, I spotted Rowan and his mate mind linking each other. “You embarrassed the man, Kael…” I froze when Rowan spoke. I cursed myself for leaving my walls down. He shouldn't have been able to reach me. I continued to chew, still not saying a word to either of them. “So Kathryn and I will be heading to town today. She's excited to go dress shopping…” Can I just f*****g finish my meal? I dropped my spoon on my plate just about done with being around anyone else that wasn't Raven right now. I pushed the chair back agozingly loud standing up. “Do whatever the f**k you want…” As long as Raven is unharmed. I started to leave and had just made it out of the dining area when Soren caught up with me. “Hey, man. Are you still mad at me?” Is he high on drugs? “Out of my way, Soren…” He had the same glass in hand. And that f*****g smile that I just itched to carve out of his face. Maybe then his real face would be the only thing he could wear. “My sister is going to give me a hard time if you don’t forgive me man. Just drink and I can be out of your hair. I didn’t want to do this either…” He sighed. I took the glass of wine and in one swipe, I gulped the entire content, shoving the empty glass to his chest and walking away. Not even ten steps into my walk upstairs, I was hit by a wave of dizziness. I shook my head, holding onto the wall for support as my body swayed. I knew that fucker was up to something. I barely made past the flight of stairs and into the hallway. I paused to breathe, pulling at my shirt at how suddenly hot the house had gotten. Beads of sweat quickly coated my forehead and my heart raced in a speed that I was sure I could die from. Especially because I couldn’t feel my wolf. “Odin…” My voice came out in a slur. I knew I had to leave this place. For whatever reason I had been drugged, it wasn’t good and I wasn’t about to wait and find out. I stumbled my way across the hall each step heavier than the last. I heard voices approaching. Rowan caught up to me, taking my arm and putting it over his shoulder. “Let’s get you to bed brother…” My mind went black, I couldn’t think, nor form the right words to stop him. His mate joined in, taking my other arm. I fought with my eyes to stay open, I could literally feel the strenght in my muscles melt and not in a good way. Fight it, K. Don’t f*****g sleep. My eyes shut after a moment, and the only sense I had was my hearing to guide me into knowing what was happening around me. “Took him long enough…” That f*****g voice. It made my skin crawl. “I told you it would work…” My sister in law answered releasing her hold on me. As did Rowan and another pair of hands took over. I was weak as a slug, leaning against her, inhaling the nauseating scent of hers. Kathryn purred like some animal, she could be counted as that considering she was acting like a dog in heat. “Time to make babies mate. You will never be able to get rid of me then…” Came next and I felt literal chills run down my spine. I felt my body sway, heating rushing to organs I had no interest in at the moment. We’ll lose Raven if you don’t do something, Odin. I tried to reach my wolf again. He stirred, he was just as weak as I was if not more. She had done this for a reason. And whatever she had her brother make me drink was strong enough to weaken my wolf to silence. I pushed against her, forcing my eyelids open. My vision blurred, I could barely make the outline of her face. She fell onto the bed, not expecting this sudden burst of energy. Raven would hate me if anything were to happen between Kathryn and I. I had caused enough damage, I didn’t want another strike to my name. I stumbled my way out of the room and could hear heavy breathing behind me. I just couldn’t tell if it was hers or mine. Her hands caught up with me, it burned my skin. And this somehow woke Odin up. A growl vibrated from my chest, followed by a burst of energe. I pushed her off again, slamming her this time to the wall and she groaned in pain. I made my way to my room, locking myself in. “Kael, open the door. I know you’re in pain, I can help you.” Like f*****g hell you can. I would settle scores later. For now, I had to get out of the house. I walked to the window with a blurry vision, pushing it wide open. Sweat trickled down my face and down to my neck. I tried to imagine the distance to the ground and how much pain I’d be in if I jumped blindly. I had jumped out many times, but never like this. I shut my eyes nonetheless and took a leap of faith. I fell with a loud thud, on feet thanks to Odin. He took control of my body, using his vision to guide us away from the viscinity and making it for the hospital where Raven was. She was out of bed, folding her hospital clothes, close to leave the hospital since she had been discharged. I made my way to her, she looked ravishing. Her eyes bulged when she saw me, but I made my way to her without a word. Startled she tried to back away, but that only got her trapped between me and a wall. Her lips parted when she gasped, it was all I could think about. I cupped her face with one hand, holding her waist with the other and pressed my lips on hers, immediately shoving my tongue into her mouth to taste all of her. She stiffened for a second before wrapping her arms around my neck, pulling me to her. I breathed in relief. These were the only lips I ever wanted to kiss. Our tongues danced for some time, my body felt as though it was one fire. Then she moaned. That melodious sound that almost made Odin lose it. He was holding back, I could tell. His fangs were just about protruding as I kissed her. But he held back. “Don't do it, Odin. We don't want her in danger, do we?” These were my words to him in my head. He huffed, pulling away to let his fangs out. My wolf did not care clearly. He wanted to mark his claim, damning the consequences. Raven stared at me, eyes locked, breathing hard as much as I was. “What happened to you?” Everything about her was driving me insane. The way she concern flashed in her eyes. I took a step back, refusing to hurt her again. I began to search the room for anything sharp. Anything to make myself bleed. It was the only way to sober me up. It might not get the toxin out of my system but the pain would keep me awake. Then I saw it. A syringe, used, but I didn’t care. There was no time. I went for it. Raven called for me. If it was here, in this very room, then it had to have been used on her. “Are you crazy? What if its…” “Was it used on you?” The voice wasn't mine that asked that question. Odin stood desperate. She could get hurt and we both didn't want that. This drug was strong, an aphrodisiac no doubt but f**k it was strong. She nodded in fear, pressing herself back to the wall. I was sure my eyes glowed a bright yellow. I could see myself in her eyes. There's no time, K. Do it. I took the needle and without thinking jabbed it on my forearm. It felt like a pinch. It wasn't enough. So I dragged it, slicing through my skin until I bleed. My vision started to clear, slowly I could see again. My human eyes were getting back to normal. I tossed the needle away and made to pull my shirt off but Raven was by my side, handing me a clothe to tie around my arm. It was going to be hard for me to do it myself. She understood this. “Here, let me do it…” she whispered, taking a careful step closer. Her breathing was uneven. She was afraid. I watched as she worked the clothe around my arm, tightly securing the wound. “You know we're in a hospital, we should get you a doctor in here.” She voiced, that concern laced in her words. “No need. It'll heal on its own. Plus I don't want anyone to know I was here.” f**k. That sounds wrong. It did. She flinched at the words. I meant to say Rowan would take it the wrong way. Not to mention, Kathryn. I needed Raven safe and uninvolved in the matter. Once the clothe was secured, I took two steps away to create a distance between us. The drug's effect still had some hold on me. I wasn't out of the woods yet. And if I wasn't being careful, neither was she. We stood staring at each other for a moment before she dragged her eyes away. Then she went back to the bed to pick up the only item she owned in this room. She was about to walk out the door when my mouth opened and words flowed out. “I'm not going to marry her, Raven.” I had not a single clue why the f**k I was suddenly saying this. But I didn’t stop myself. “You might not believe that everything I'm doing right now is for you but you'll understand soon.” You have no idea how special you are. She walked out of the room without a word or a glance. I balled my fists, of course she didn't believe me. I let myself sit on her bed to gather my thoughts. I remained her for a few minutes before getting up to leave. Abigail pushed the door open before I could get to it. My expression turned cold at the sight of her. “You drugged me.” It was more a question than it was a statement. I had never liked her, she was just like her mate. Evil. She folded her arms across her chest, her expression showing that she had zero remorse whatsoever. “It was for your own good, Kael. And what does it matter, you two are getting married soon anyway.” I don't hit women. I don't hit women.. Fucking hell. I heaved a breath, forcing my lungs to take in as much air as they could allow. “You've all crossed the line with me. You think your little stunt is going to make me give a s**t about this alliance or her? You're clearly mistaken…” I was done at this point. The wedding is off. She took a daring step towards me, holding her head high in defiance. I felt her Luna aura projecting, and I smirked. This b***h thinks she's special. “No, you're the one clearly mistaken here, Kael. And you're also the one who has crossed the line. Kissing your niece?...” Holy s**t. She saw us. I paled in a split second. My eyes darted to the door. If she knew, it meant everyone else knew as well. “Don't worry, no one knows about your abominable act yet. And if you don't want them to know, you're going to do exactly as I say or so help me goddess, I will have every pack know about the great Beta Kael's affair….” She had me exactly where she wanted me. For Raven. “What. Do. You. Want?” I asked, already hating the answer before it came.
