9. She's Missing

1564 Words
KAEL I walked into the hospital room to find Kathryn close to Raven, whispering something into her ear. She pulled back with a smile but from the Look on Raven's face, I could already tell that whatever Kathryn said was disturbing. “What are you two talking about?” I asked, curious to know what Kathryn was up to. There seemed to have been an emergency in their pack and yet she was here, undisturbed. Weird. Why didn't she leave with her brother? “You think she's in it with him?” Odin asked. Whatever he had going on, she definitely knew. Maybe even about his mate too. “Oh nothing darling…” the pet name just made my skin crawl. “...just girl's talk, right Raven?” She asked with that same smile that had now turned sinister at Raven. My mate said nothing. Instead she bit her lip and played with her hands. She usually had a mouth with her. Whatever Kathryn said must have gotten to her and I needed to know, for her own safety. Kathryn got up to leave but I caught her hand. “Don't play with me, Kathryn. What did you say to her?” I wasn't exactly asking even though it was literally a question. She winced from how hard my grip was, but quickly masked it with a look of defiance. “You want to know so bad? Fine. I told her that I knew she was in love with you.” f**k! How did she know? My cold exterior faltered with a twice in my brow. But not my grip. If anything, it only grew tighter. “Don't be ridiculous, Kathryn. I'm her f*****g uncle. Why would she fall for me when she knows better?” Because I'm her mate, that's why. f**k! “The way you're protecting her makes me want to think that you love her back, Kael….” She dared to say, eyes narrowing as if to read me off. She even took a bold step of coming close to me. “What you need to do is mind your f*****g business. And like I f*****g said, you're being ridiculous. She's mated to your f*****g brother for goddess’ sake.” I snapped, finally releasing her by pushing her aside. She rubbed her arm lightly. It had reddened already. Great, now everyone is about to hear how abusive I am to her. I rubbed the other hand on my face. She gave one last glance at Raven before stalking out of the room. I looked at Raven too, she didn't look back. If anything she laid back on the bed with her back facing me. She didn't want me around. I spun on my heels and stumped out of the room as well, shutting the door behind me. I went to the training ground, the only place that could get my mind off the attack and the wedding plans. I had just pulled off my shirt, ready to train when I spotted a figure stalking in long strides towards the training ground. Soren was pissed and my guess was that Kathryn had just ratted me out. “That or he's seen the mark of your hand on her. I'll f*****g kill him if he dares to touch us…” Odin hissed like a snake in my head, already taking a fighting stance should I need it. This was the first time the man didn't have a smile. His true nature showing and it was f*****g ugly. “Just because you're getting married to my sister doesn't give you the right to manhandle and treat her like s**t, Kael!” Ahh, and now everyone knows I'm the problem. I almost laughed. Except my facial muscles did not agree. My fingers itched for a fight. He would get it if he overreacted and that was for sure. Easy, Odin. This was his doing. I was more chill than he was. “How about to tell your sister to stay away from Raven? If she touches a hair on her,” I stepped down the platform and stood face to face with him. “...that's when we're going to have a problem.” Soren's lips twitched and I smiled. Oh how I loved to see the punk crack. I would need to do this often. To get under his skin. To finally see who was really under that mask. Just a little bit more and soon, Soren. You will show me who you are. He got closer, and spoke just so only I could hear. “Don't forget that you're the ones who need this alliance more than my pack does…” “f**k off…” Rowan needed this. I could care less about this s**t. Even though the responsibility fell on me. I bumped into him, about to walk off when he spoke again. “Oh and don't also forget that little Raven is mine now…” “Just let me have his head…” Odin snarled, clawing the back of my head. I clenched my jaw and said nothing. He walked off leaving me on the hot sun and a rage that could take out an army. Raven is his, my ass. She's mine. Always has been. “Always will be…” Odin finished. I marched to the training ground, back to the platform. I had so much anger that needed simmering down. Soren had a thing coming if he thought his little confrontation did anything at all. Everyone across the country knew Beta Kael. On a good day, I could take out half an army single handedly. Not to mention the army I had personally trained. Soren's pack, the Howl Moon Pack just had numbers. My men and I would have to take ten to one on a good day. It wasn't a challenge but in the case of a war, I already had the upper hand. Rowan on the other hand was the p***y behind this. The fucker was mostly in his office, avoiding a fight by all means. But maybe if I could prove that Soren was unsafe for Raven I could at least get her out of this union. Mine wasn't really the problem. Hers was. And she might not see it until there was proof. Any other man would have been better than f*****g Soren. I thought to myself, wrapping my knuckles with a band. “Liar, liar. It wouldn't have mattered what or who. I would have hated him still…” Odin countered and I rolled my eyes at him. Drew, who had been on the other side of the field training the rest of the men, jogged over to me. “Hey, boss. What was that about?” “Nothing to worry about.” “Didn't look like nothing boss. For a moment I thought you were going to kill him.” And I would have given the opportunity. “He gives me the creeps, man.” Oh thank goddess it ain't just me then. “I might be wrong but I think he's up to something. I don't know what it is but f*****g hell he's creepy. Especially with Raven.” My head snapped up to look at Drew. He not only noticed. It meant others could tell too. It meant I wasn't in over my head or just being jealous. “Find me everything you can on him. I want to know who he sees and how he likes to drink his coffee.” I ordered as the ass smiled. “You got it boss.” He saluted and ran off. I finished off my training which only lasted an hour and a half. When I went back to the house, and was walking past Rowan's office to head upstairs, I heard him clear his throat. He sensed me. And that action was to get me into his office. “What is this I'm hearing about you having a fight with your brother in law, K?” He asked standing up to his feet as if to scold a child. I wiped the sweat off my face with the back of my hand and took a seat in the chair in front of him. His face contorted into that of disgust because he hated when I sat on his leathered seats all sweaty and drippy. I smirked, lifted a brow and waited for the scolding to continue. When it didn't, I spoke. “Rowan, if it was a fight Soren would have been in the hospital by now. He's not. And that says a lot…” “You better not mess this up, K….” Is he threatening me? “Or what?” He clenched his jaw and said nothing. “Kathryn had it coming. I warned her off Raven that's all. And her brother thought it was a good idea to confront me. We had a little chat and what was it…” I told him, got up and was ready to leave when Rowan yelled. “Who the f**k cares what she does to Raven? The girl isn't really a pack member, don't forget that!” And whose fault is it? I was about to reply when someone rushed into the office panting like they had ran a mile. “Beta, Raven…she's missing. The doctors can't find her in the hospital.”
