I used to cry after the kills. Now I just count them.
Fourteen Ministry officers.
Seven informants.
Three sympathizers.
And one ex-lover I haven't touched yet. The one who was closer to my family, a lover, a brother, and a lover. Now an ex lover though. I haven't touched him yet.
But I will.
Not because I want revenge. That would be simple.
I want truth. The ugly, mewling kind. The one hiding in Ezekiel’s marrow like a parasite. The one that whispered orders into our bedsheets while he kissed my spine.
The last words Arven ever said to me echo now:
