His Surprise Daughter

I’ve been living in California for three months now. I’m currently working as a waitress at a diner and I’m a science tutor.

On my way to work I need to stop at the drug store for some children’s allergy medicine.

While I’m waiting in the checkout line I decide to look through some magazines. When it’s my turn to checkout I put the magazine back but then as I am putting it back I see Axel on the cover of GQ magazine . I immediately put that with the other stuff I’m paying for then I head to work.

Good thing I’m working at the diner today because I cannot focus at all. Ever since I saw Leilani’s dad on the cover of GQ magazine that’s all I can think about.

After my shift is over around 1:00pm I go home. Paige is watching Leilani for me while I work. We both made our work schedule around Leilani. I don’t have the money for daycare right now so when I work Paige has her but on days that we both work Jess has her.

I get home and I go check on Leilani because I know it’s her nap time. I go up the stairs and open her bedroom door to see she is sleeping peacefully. I close her door slowly so I would not make any noise then I head to the living room where Paige is.

“ Paige you won’t believe what I found out today.”

“ What?” I take out the magazine that has Axel’s photo on it and show it to her.

“ You found out that Axel Chambers is on the cover of GQ magazine and that he is the youngest Billionaire . What’s so important about that?”

“ Look harder at his face. Who does he look like?” Paige looks at me then she picks up the magazine and looks more intensely at the photo.

“ He has a lot of the same features as Leilani . I mean same eyes and same nose.They both even have dimples. He looks like he could be..Oh my gosh are you trying to tell me that this Axel is the Axel you were with in Hawaii.”

“ The one and only.”

“ What the hell Isabelle. Your telling me you had no idea that the famous billionaire Axel Chambers is the father of your daughter?”

“ No. You know I’m not on any social media.”

“ Now that you know his full name will you tell him about Leilani?”

“ I want to but there are just two problems with that. The first problem is it’s probably impossible to get in contact with him. Second problem is even if I tell him he won’t believe me.”

“ It’s worth a try. Here while I go wake up Leilani you go look up a number on the Internet and see if you can contact him.”

“ I’m not ready for this.”

“ You will never be ready for this.”

I did as Paige said I get on the Internet and l look up his contact information. I didn’t find his exact phone number I only found his company phone number and his assistant phone number.

“ Hi mommy.”

“ Hey pretty girl. Mommy needs to make a phone call can you hangout and watch TV with Auntie Paige.” Leilani looks at me and nods her head. I go into my room and close the door.

I decide not to call the company because they might think I’m calling for a problem that I’m having with something.

“ Hello this June from Chambers company how may I help you?”

“ Yes I need to make an appointment to see Alex Chambers.”

“ Okay and What is the meeting about?”

“ It’s a personal matter.”

“I’m sorry miss but Mr.Chambers doesn’t do personal meetings.” I knew I wasn’t going to be able to meet with him but hearing it out loud I feel my heartbreak.

“Um right well can you tell him Isabelle Gomez called.”

“ Look Ms. Gomez I’m going to be honest with you when random girls call my phone asking to talk to Mr.Chambers he tells me not to deliver the message. I’m only saying this to you because you sound like what you need to tell him is really important. What is the problem and maybe I can help you talk to him.” I really don’t want to tell her about my daughter but this may be my only choice in order for me to be in contact with him. I really don’t want to tell her about my daughter so I say “ Just tell him my name is Isabelle Gomez and that we meet three years ago in Hawaii. He will understand what your talking about and your right this is very important.”

“ Well I will try to relay your message.”

“ Thank you June and have a wonderful day.”

I go downstairs and I motion for Paige to come in the kitchen while Leilani is occupied with Moana.

“ So how did it go.”

“ Like I told you it’s like impossible to get in contact with him. His assistant even said it. She said she will try to give him my message but. He probably won’t call back.”

“ I’m sorry Belle.” I just shrug my shoulders and go sit with Aria.

The rest of the week went by fast. Today is Paige and I’s off day so we decided to take Leilani to the zoo.

While we are walking around the zoo I get a phone call from a non saved number. I usually don’t answer those because I believe if you really want to contact me then you will leave a voicemail. But for some odd reason I feel compelled to answer the phone.

“ Hello.”

“ Yes can I speak with Isabelle Gomez.”

“ This is she.”

“ Hi my name is June we spoke on the phone a week ago.”

“ Oh yes I remember.”

“Mr.Chambers is willing to meet with you. Today at 3:30pm at Starbucks. I will send you the address to the Starbucks you will be meeting him at.”

“ okay perfect.”

“ Goodbye Ms. Gomez.”

“What was that all about?”

“That was Axel’s assistant. He has agreed to meet with me today at 3:30.”

“ Are you going to tell him about Leilani?”

“No, not at this moment. I will eventually but I need to build up to telling him I can’t just lay it on him.”

“ Okay as long as you plan to tell him that’s all that matters.”

We finish walking around the zoo for an hour. Leilani was making animal noises and she was asking what animal is that. It was truly fun. Now I’m home getting ready to meet Axel.

I decide to wear a black long sleeve off the shoulder crop top with light blue high waisted jeans. My long black wavy hair is down and I’m wearing black flats.

Right when I walk into Starbucks I see Axel sitting down at table wearing a grey suit. I go order my drink then I wait off to the side. As I’m waiting for my drink I start to look admire horse much Axel has changed. The barista hands me my drink and I walk over to where he is sitting.

“ Hi Axel.”

“ Isabelle please take a seat. I have a meeting in an hour which gives us thirty minutes to talk. I wasn’t going to meet with you but my assistant said it was urgent. So what do you need to tell me that’s so important?” Wow he is an asshole.

“ I honestly have no plans on telling you what so important. I need to get to know you before I tell you.”

“ Isabelle I want you to know that I’m getting engaged soon. So if your trying to rekindle what we had three years ago then your sadly mistaken.”

“ No I don’t want to get back together with you. I just need to get to know you that’s it.”

“ Why?”

“ I can’t tell you. I really want to but I need time. The only way I will tell you what’s so important is if I get to know you.”

“ Look Isabelle I need to go. I don’t know what it is your trying to say to me but it’s best you drop it.” I don’t say anything because I think I have a general idea of what he would do if he found out about her. So I just follow him out of Starbucks.

When we both walk out of Starbucks together there are people with big cameras taking photos.

“ Axel are you cheating on Chloe?”

“ Miss what’s your name?”All these questions were being asked and there were so many people.

I feel someone’s hand grab mine and withdraw my hand. “ Miss I work with Axel I’m going to take you to your car.” I nod my head and he lead me out of the crowd. When we get out of the crowd I say thank you and then I leave.

When I get home I walk up to Leilani’s room and I see her and Paige playing dolls.

“ Leilani are you ready for your bath?”

“ Yes mommy.”

While I’m washing Leilani in the bathtub Paige is in there with me.

“ So how did the meeting go with Axel?”

“ I’m not going to tell him about Leilani.”

“ Why not?”

“Because he is a A-s-s-h-o-l-e.”

“ He’s an as..”

“No cussing Leilani’s in here.” Usually I don’t mind but Leilani is at a stage where she likes to repeat everything we say and I don’t need her saying bad words.

“ What she can’t even say it. It’s too long for her.”

“ Doesn’t mean she won’t try. Anyways when we walked out of Starbucks there were people with cameras asking a lot of questions and I really did not like that.”

“ That’s not good. I know you hate being around too many people.”

I take Leilani out of the bathtub and dress her in her pink pajamas.

It’s been two weeks since I last spoke to Axel. I’ve been picking up extra shifts at the diner to save money.

“ Aria do you want to go to the park today?”

“ Ya.”

On the way to the park me and Aria rock out to the trolls soundtrack in the car. When we get to the park I put Aria in the swing and I push her for a long time.

“ Mommy juice.” I take Aria out of the swing and we sent on the park bench. I hand her the juice pouch and we sit for a little bit.

“ All gone mommy.”

“You want to go on the slide?” She nods her head yes. I help her walk up the steps to get to the slide. Then I stand at the end of the slide to catch her. We do this until I tell her it’s time to go home.

I strap her into her car set but as I was doing this I felt like someone was watching me. I look around but I don’t see anyone. I get in my car and drive home.

The whole day I spent with Leilani doing fun little activities. This is my favorite part of being a mom. I love spending time with her and teaching her new things. Everyday I try to teach her a new word or a new sound. Leilani is truly special and I’m not just saying that because she is my daughter. She reminds me of me when I was little.

The next day I decide to quit my job at the diner and become a full time tutor. They pay well and they really work with my schedule. School is starting up in a couple months and if I want to graduate early and be a good mom I need a job that will work with my schedule.

“ Belle you have to come see this!” I hear Paige yell

“ What?” She pulls up a blog post that has a picture of me and Aria at the park. The title of the blog post is “ Axel Chambers secret baby. I then continue to read the blog post. It says that “ a month ago we saw Axel Chambers walking out of Starbucks with a mystery woman. It took us a minute to hunt down this mystery woman but we found her but she wasn’t alone. Is this blue eye little girl Axel Chambers daughter?

“ s**t this is not good. I felt like someone was watching me yesterday but I didn’t see anyone.”

“Maybe Axel won’t see it.”

“ Let’s pray he doesn’t.”
