To recover the Heart of Darkness, the Dark Church began investigating the two Light Church mages who had slaughtered the cursed village, hoping to discover whether they were the ones who had taken it. At the same time, to retaliate for the Light Church’s previous ambush, the Dark Church launched a series of covert attacks on Light clergy.
For a while, temples across the land reported assassinated priests, ritualists, and Church knights, enraging the Light faithful.
Although the Light Church organized several campaigns to besiege the Dark Church, the previous failure had made them cautious. Their subsequent operations all ended in failure.
Thus, the Light Church decided to greatly expand its influence by creating a new profession—the Demon Hunters.
