Reina tossed herself back and forth from her bed. She looked at the clock and sighed deeply. It was only past seven in the evening. Everything felt different tonight for her. She was not in the Operating Room to put anesthesia on the patients, nor in the Emergency Room to check the traumatic patient’s vitals. She was not even allowed to check the patients or hold her laptop to investigate Carter.
“Arghh! This kind of rest makes me go berserk!” Reina shouted frustratedly. Her eyes fell on her left dextrose hand and transferred to the door. She remembered Mr. A talking to one nurse, telling her to keep an eye on Reina. “Psh. I’m not a top agent for nothing.” She ululate and grinned. She slowly removed the white micropore tape and quickly removed the dextrose from her hand. She felt a faint sting but ignored it.
As soon as Reina stand on her feet, she felt her head spins and her eyes became blurry. She closed her eyes tightly and held her head. “Crap you orthostatic hypotension!” She grinned her teeth and slowly opened her eyes. After a few seconds, she completely regained herself. Reina searched the closet and saw her white coat and ID neatly hanging inside. She smirked.
“It’s nice to see you again,” She said and happily wore her white coat then dashed out of the room.
“Good evening” She greeted the nurse in charge of her and swiftly, but calmly walked away.
“Good evening, Doctor.” The nurse greeted back. But then she stopped. “D-Doctor?! Hey, Doctor! Please come back!” She exclaimed and quickly stand from her chair and ran to follow Reina who quickened her pace. “Doctor Silverstone, please! Doctor Arden will be angry!” The nurse pleaded and Reina rolled her eyes.
“Believe me, dear. He won’t get mad at you. His rant will directly go to me.” Reina said calmly, but the nurse shook her head and grabbed Reina’s coat.
“Please, Doctor. Let’s go ba-“
“For Pete’s sake!”
The nurse flinched upon hearing the deep voice speak behind her. She felt her hand tremble as she looked back and bowed her head.
“I-I’m really sorry, Docto-“
“It’s not your fault. Get back to your work.” Mr. A said firmly, but his sharp eyes were focused on Reina. “Good job.” He said and patted the nurse’s shoulder. The nurse flinched again but managed to nod her head.
“T-Thank you, Doctor. I’ll take my leave now.” She stuttered and swiftly walked away. Mr. A sighed and looked at Reina who was…
“Where on earth did she go?!” He exclaimed and his eyes searched the lobby. He then saw a white coat quickly turned right, where the patient’s rooms are. He ruffled his hair in distress. “Such a brat” He cursed under his tongue and motioned to run, but the people around him looked at him, so he stopped, exhaled deeply, and walked away swiftly.
Reina covered her mouth and silently laughed as she watched Mr. A’s hot coals on his head start to be fierier. She shook her head and turned around to check the patients but stopped when her face, especially her nose, hit the hard wall.
“Ouch…” She mumbled to herself and massaged her nose gently.
“Clumsy”
Oh no, it’s not a hard wall. It’s a hard chest. Reina stopped and her eyes widened. She quickly looked up and met Ryther’s emotionless face.
“T-Thorn! How are you?” Reina fakes a laugh and slowly stepped back but her back hit something again.
“Such a brat”
Reina gulped. It was Mr. A. She giggled nervously and scratched her cheek, trying to find excuses. Ryther and Mr. A crossed their hands on their chest and glared at her sharply.
“Seriously?! I’ll die if I will not do anything okay?” Reina exclaimed in frustration and ruffled her hair. “I won’t stay in that room and do nothing,” She said firmly.
“No” The two said in unison.
“You can’t stop me.” Reina rolled her eyes and aimed to walk away when Ryther pulled her collar, choking her. He then locked his arms under Reina’s underarm and pulled her up. Mr. A grabbed her feet and they carried her like a pig ready to be slaughtered.
“Hey! Put me down!” Reina tried to shake her body but Ryther squeezed her shoulders and she groaned. Reina cursed under her tongue.
“If you won’t behave while we are still being nice, then we have no choice, you brat.” Mr. A retorted and the two started to walk. Reina tried to release herself but her strength was nothing compared to the two brawny men.
“The heck!” She shouted then an idea came to her mind. “HELP!” Reina shouted with a full blast. “Help me!”
In just a matter of seconds, they heard quick footsteps. Nurses and staff started to run and gather on the corridor. Mr. A and Ryther frowned.
“For Pete’s sake, will you disturb the patient’s sleep?!” Ryther exclaimed.
“Whatever! Help-oomph!” Ryther quickly held Reina’s upper body with one hand and covered Reina’s mouth with the other. Seeing this, Reina stick her tongue out and licked Ryther’s palm like a dog. Feeling her soft, wet tongue, Ryther flinched.
“Yuck! You’re disgusting!” Ryther exclaimed and wiped his hand with Reina’s coat.
“Jerk!” Reina shouted.
The people around them gasp. Gossips and loud whispers started to echo in the whole corridor.
“Doctor Rein? What’s wrong? What’s happening here?!” Vander exclaimed as soon as his body managed to come out of the buzzing crowd.
“Shut up and help me!” Reina retorted.
“Don’t listen to her and chase the crowd away. You know her current state yet she insists to work.” Ryther said and Vander’s eyes widened. Reina's eyes narrowed.
“I’m sorry, Doctor Rein. But you need to rest.” Vander said and Reina frowned. She knew it. “Everyone, it’s okay. Please get back to your own business. The woman Doctor here was hurt because of the Harbour Bridge accident, yet she insisted to work so the owner of the hospital and my co-doctor wanted her to rest. Please rest assured nothing bad will happen.” Vander explained thoroughly and calmly. Reina cursed under her tongue. Vander was really good at persuading and explaining and as his colleague, Reina was thankful for that. But definitely, not today.
The crowd started to disappear and seeing that, Reina shook her body wildly. Ryther and Mr. A squeezed her arm and feet and walked away but stopped when Reina stopped. Her heart suddenly beats faster, and her eyes widened. She heard it again. The loud ticking of the clock.
