The sound of my heels clicking against the marble floor filled the great hallway as I made my way to the ballroom where the music was vibrating on the walls, while four guards protected the doors to the ballroom. Two guards on each side of the door don't talk or leave their station ever. I stopped twenty feet from them. They looked at each other before looking at the dark hallway off to the side before looking back at me. I let out a disappointed sigh as I turned to face the dark hallway which holds the scariest and most dangerous person in all of Andican. "Hey Ki, long time no see." I said, forcing myself to sound happy. "You are late for the party, oh wait." Kira says as she steps into the light, her right side is still hidden in the darkness. "You weren't invited." Kira adds with a small smile. "What can I say? I can smell a boring party from a different country." I joked, but Kira didn't laugh. I breathe in deeply and force myself to exhale softly. "Yes, the party got too stuffy." Kira said slowly, looking into the dark hallway, and I understood. "You are not asking enough questions nor are you asking the right questions." Kira added. "What is the ball for?" I ask and Kira nods softly. "A welcome home ball, Anadaya got into a motorcycle accident. She was in the hospital for several months." Kira adds, before stepping back into the darkness. I turned to the guards, but they were more focused on opening those doors and I walked in. I looked for Candy, but I couldn't find her. I turned to look at the announcer. He gulps and points to the middle of the ballroom where I finally see Candy, just standing there in the middle of the room, staring at me. I walk down the stairs and everyone moves out of my way. I stopped in front of her, and she towered over me, standing at six foot, she was breathtaking, looking like Satan and Apollo mixed together. "Hello, my beautiful Dea," Candy said, and I raised my hands and slapped her across the face. The music stopped and everyone stops to gawk at the freak show that is my life. I looked around and saw my parents. I move past Candy and walked outside into the freezing air. I walked in and I saw the golden gazebo. I smile softly at the old memory of Candy spending two months building and painting the gazebo so that I can sit and read my book in peace, but she painted it gold because I am only worthy of the best of the best. "If I come to apologize, are you going to slap me again?" Candy's voice rang through the harsh wind. I turned to look at her, she was standing on the outside of the gazebo while I was standing in the center of the gazebo, just like old times. Candy must've picked on it because she slowly began walking around the gazebo while I stood still, letting Candy circle me like a monster circling up its prey. "Do you want me to?" I ask as I fight the urge to strip naked to let this twisted game continue. "I don't know yet," Candy says as she stops in front of me. "Strip." Candy ordered, her voice deadly serious. "You wanted to apologize about something." I baited. Candy raises an eyebrow. "Strip." Candy orders again and my hands begin doing it without my permission. Candy keeps her eyes trained on my eyes as I stripped out of my ripped black jeans and a white shirt. I undo my bra and underwear before setting everything off to the side. Candy nodded at me as her way of telling that she approved. Candy begins to circle me again. I can feel the heat in my cheeks from my embarrassment. "Your behavior hasn't been very good girl of you," Candy says as she finally enters the gazebo. I don't try to cover up my body or look away from her. She slowly walked over to me. "So? You got into a motorcycle accident and fell into the ocean and forgot to tell me. I have been extremely nice by just slapping you." I argue back and Candy smiles as she pitches my left breast while her right hand rubs my chin. "I understand your anger and frustration, but that doesn't give you permission to enter a ball without being announced nor does it give you permission to slap me in front of everyone, am I understood?" "Yes ma'am." I admitted with a soft moan as Candy pinched and pulled my n****e out a bit before releasing it. "Then what should you do about your wrongdoing?" Candy asks as she cups my breast and she rubs her thumb over my n****e. "I apologize for being disrespectful to your ball and for slapping you in front of everyone. That wasn't nice of me and I could've expressed myself." I admitted and Candy nodded as she pulled my n****e and released it once again. "Thank you, I apologize for not telling you about my accident or my injuries. I should've told you when I told the other council members, that was extremely selfish of me. I didn't want you to see me so helpless," Candy says, as she kisses me on the cheek. "Now, after all of this time, you are still my good girl." Candy whispers next to my ear. She backs up from my body and my body is now freezing. "I would've paid good money to be the one that had complete control over you." I argued back. "Maybe you should have complete control over me, then." She jokes back, she would never let go of her control, not over me, not over anyone. She relishes that kind of control. "What happened during your accident?" "My brakes failed." "Bullshit. You are lying." "Why are you here?" "Didn't know I needed a reason. Why is bimbo number forty-eight get boring already?" "Do you have a reason for being here?" "No." "Now, who is lying?" "I don't know what you mean." I say as Candy backs up and turns around, she wants me to get dressed. I rolled my eyes and go over to my clothes. "Happy now?" I asked as I put my bracelet on. Candy turns around and studies me. "Not even close. You are a liar, and you are walking a very thin line," Candy says. All of my rage about her hiding her accident from me came to the surface and I burst out laughing at her. She watches me and slowly licks her lips as she waits for me to recompose myself. "Last time I checked, you don't get to tell when I am a good girl or when I am walking a thin line or not because you broke up with me at the top of the stairs. You walked away from me at the pinic and at the top of the stairs. You never looked back, and you got married that same year." I yelled. I walked up to her so that we stood head-to-head. I am only shorter than Candy by five inches, but right now, I feel like I am seven feet tall. "My crimes should be forgiven in light of your crime." Candy bites back, refusing to back down. "What is my crime?" "How is your fiancé?" She asks as her smile fades away and I tensed. No one was supposed to know about him. "Oh wait, how about I just go to my bastard cousin? He would know." Candy adds in a low voice. "You weren't supposed to know," I said softly. "Oh, that makes me feel so much better," Candy says as she looks around the gazebo. My eyes begin to burn. "I was going to tell you but I didn't know how." I admit as I look at the roof, willing my tears to stay gone. "Yeah, I am sure there isn't many google searches on how to my ex-girlfriend and childhood best friend that after five years of not seeing, or talking to each other, I am heading back to her hometown because I am engaged to her cousin that she hated because he is a bastard and a real fun character." Candy laughs out. "I am usually googling on how to make the apartment smell better." "Removed the bastard." "You should go back to your party." "You go ahead. I have a meeting." Candy says as she nods to someone behind me, I looked around and there was Kira, eating a bag of marshmallows. She looks so weird and different. "Pey, do you know what goes plop clunk in the ocean when the heart goes broken?" Kira asks me with a straight face. "I don't." I say as I walk out of the gazebo, I don't feel like party so I go to my room.
