"Mama, does the Moon Goddess hate me?" Little Kate asked while her mother was braiding her hair. Gladys stopped and looked at her daughter, shocked at her question. "Of course not, my sweat pea. The Moon Goddess loves us, all her creations," she answered gently and kissed the top of Kate's head. "Then why don't I have a wolf if she loves us all?" Kate asked sadly. "Jasmine and my classmates said she didn't love me because I am wolfless. What does that mean, Mama?" she added and played with her fingers. Gladys' heart ached at what she had heard. She faced Kate and kneeled in front of her, cupping her face. "Don't listen to them, my sweet pea. You're just a bit special. The Moon Goddess loves you like how Mama and Papa love you," Gladys said and smiled. Kate hugged her mother tightly. "I know you won't understand this right now. You'll face hardships in the future, my sweet pea, but always remember, we will be here for you. You are my precious daughter, and Mama will always pray for your happiness," Gladys said and hugged her daughter while rubbing her back. Her poor child does not deserve what was happening to her. Gladys wiped the tears from her eyes and continued hugging Kate and lulling her to sleep.
