Sam's P.O.V
I took Ruth with me to show her around. We went to the waterfall first to stay around others so she would slowly feel more comfortable around me. "As you already know, this is the waterfall and here we drink. I sleep here sometimes but if you wake up and want to drink, don't mind walking past me. Just please, don't be afraid of me or my brother. Yes, we are big, strong and deathly, but is we wanted to hurt you we would've already done it. Besides, you're Ollie's mate, we hurt you, we hurt him. We hurt him, we hurt ourselves. No need to be scared." I said. Ruth was just silent and taking her surroundings in. "If you don't feel comfortable, just tell me and I'll bring you back to Oliver." I said and she nodded. At least I knew she was listening. "Last night, I couldn't sleep because of a nightmare. Shall I show you where the best place is to clear up your mind?" I asked and she nodded. She liked the fact that she kind of had the control of where we went but she too, knew I still had that control and it was the last thing making her uncomfortable. We walked towards the lake I went yesterday. Running, it only takes minutes, but walking, it took about an hour. The way there was awkwardly silent. "Is Oliver treating you good?" I asked to try and make it less awkward, but she kind of said yes, but not completely convincing me she knows what she is saying. "Ruth." I said after a while filled with silence. "Yes?" She said looking at me. "Tell me, what's going on? What's on your mind?" I asked and she thought about what to say. She opened her mouth but closed it again. I stopped and turned to her. "What is it?" I asked again. "Nothing, really." She said turning away and walking again. "Ruth, don't lie to me. I've helped wolves with their problems for as long as I live. Don't try to hide such things from me. I had faith in you and accepted you here, you've got to trust me and tell me what's wrong. Then we can both work on it." I tried to convince her. "I don't know. There's just always something in the back of my head telling me that what I do is wrong." She said grabbing her left arm and looking at the ground. "Has it always been there? Or since you met Oliver. Since you met anyone specific. Us maybe?" I asked and she thought about it. "Ever since I met you and your brother." She said. I slowly started walking again. "What kind of wrong feeling is it? Can you explain it or do even you don't understand the feeling." I asked. "The thought of you and your brother being absolute murderers keeps popping in my mind. Some kind of anxiety. Will they kill me? Now is the perfect moment for them to kill me. They probably think I'm not worth Oliver, they will kill me. It's just a constant thought. I trust that you won't, but my brain tells me you could change your mind about it after anything I say. I say one word wrong and you get a sudden urge to kill me. What if..." She explained. Now it was my time to explain to her why she shouldn't be scared. "See? Now that I know what's wrong I can help you get over it." I said. "Jac and I only kill on request of people who have suffered from a certain person's actions or the consequences those actions had. It's the reason we came to your pack, to ask permission to kill Colin. Have you ever hurt someone?" I asked and she looked nervous. "Not really." She said looking at the ground. "What is it?" I asked but I realised it was a bit to straight forward. She didn't answer and I thought of a better question. "Have you always been in the lightning pack?" I asked. "Why are you asking?" "You just went with us, you only asked Blossom. Not saying goodbye to possible family. So do you have family?" I asked. "Yes." She half whispered. "What happened to them?" I asked but she didn't answer. "Ruth, look at me. Where did you come from. What pack." I asked as I jumped in front of her. She stopped walking and thought about how to avoid answering the question. She didn't find an alternative so just said nothing. "Tell me, please. I want to help, I want to help you but I need to know." I begged, but she didn't give in. "Alright, hurt you back a little longer by carrying it longer than necessary. If you mind telling me why you don't want to change, that could help your back carry the secret of you past pack." I said starting to walk again. She followed me and shut her mouth. "Why?" I asked. "Why all these secrets?" "Because I don't feel like it relieves me if you would know." She said. "Try me." I said. When she didn't say anything I told her I wouldn't tell anyone about it as long as she wants to keep it a secret. "Do you have any idea how many secrets I know about all those rouges who live there? Some secrets I know, some my brother knows and some we both know, but even we don't tell each other out peoples secrets. Want to hear a secret of mine?" I said and she just nodded, not caring too much but definitely listening. "One of the biggest reasons I want to turn human is to ride a bike, not a bicycle, a motorbike. I want to ride through the forest, race others in a fair race. If I race anyone in wolf form I have a 99% chance of winning and that last percent is when I race my brother and we tie. It would be a pleasure to lose, even though it sounds weird. I know it isn't a big secret but it is something." I said. "I will tell you about my past and why I don't change if you tell me about your past too." She said. "Alright." I said. "But I actually want you to change so we can run to the lake because this walking is taking ages." I said. Ruth hesitated but decided to walk behind a tree and change. When Ruth came back, she was a beautiful white wolf with a black, left eye. Her tail was black too, just like her two front paws. She was beautiful and I don't understand why she wouldn't want to change. She will tell me, but I have to explain my story first. I began running and she followed me, we went on full speed for Ruth. We reached the lake in a couple minutes and I laid down next to the water. Ruth hid behind the trees again and changed back, she put on her clothes and sat next to me. She looked over the lake and its greatness. "It's beautiful, isn't it?" I said when I saw her open mouth. She admired the place. "This is were you went yesterday night?" She asked. "Partly." I said and pointed with my nose to the mountains across the lake, way in the distance. "I usually run here, swim a couple rounds and then climb the mountain. If you feel distressed one day or night, I can take you there. I do it with most new wolves but this still is my place. You can lay anywhere in the base but this is my lake with my mountains and this just is my spot. You can come here but not if you will irritate me when I'm here, then you'll get a problem, a biiiiiig problem." I said and she swallowed. "So, who's first?" I asked and she told me I had to tell about my past first. "How far back? What do you want to know exactly?" I asked and she thought about it. "I want to know what got you into killing Alphas." She said. I thought, what did it. "I don't know actually. I think it was by killing my past alpha. I realised it was the only way to stop him from doing anything bad ever again." I said. "You childhood, how did that go?" She asked. "As a wolf, I didn't play with others that much. I definitely did play with other pups but surprisingly less. I also trained a lot. My parents didn't trust our alpha, and rightly they did, so they trained us as early as possible." "That's why you are so strong?" "Yes. Mostly yes." "How old were you when you killed your alpha? How old are you and your brother now?" "I killed my alpha when I was ten. I now am sixteen." I said. "And your brother?" "I won't violate his privacy but we are twins." "Why do you take in rouges?" She asked tilting her head slightly. "Because they need protection and want freedom. Take Fox, he needed protection because his old alpha was still hunting him while he couldn't move anymore. He needed a place to stay where he could be protected and heal and leave when he was fully recovered, or stay if he wanted to. We have had a lot more rouges here than the ones who live here now, many have recovered or moved on and either went somewhere else to be rouge or joined a pack." I said. "Now it's your turn." I said quickly before she could ask more. "Why I didn't want to change?" She said and she thought about it. "I don't like my wolf, I think she is ugly and should be shown little as possible." "Who told you your wolf is ugly? Your old alpha?" I asked knowing she didn't come from the lightning and I have experience with alphas telling his pack they shouldn't show their wolves because their monsters or whatever. "Yes, my old alpha and my old mate. Two people I listened to and agreed with." She whispered, but it yelled in my ears. "Who was your old alpha?" I asked, hoping she would tell me before breaking. She shook her head. I came towards her and put my big head against her small, fragile head. "C... Co.... Colin." She whispered and she began crying. I wish I could change and hug her but I can't and it's breaking me that she is crying in front of me. i decided the best I could do is lay down and kind of hug her with my whole body. It was the most I could do for her. She cried in my fur and slowly fell asleep while crying. I decided to ask Jac for a bit of help and he arrived just a few minutes after I mind linked him. He helped her on my neck and we went back. Oliver saw us arrive and he was afraid something happened to us. I told him she just fell asleep and we didn't want to wake her up. Oliver took her in immediately and fell asleep with her, without dinner. "Those two really love each other, don't they." Jac said and I nodded. Half of the rouges went hunting while the other half made a fire. Jac showed the new tools. "We could make a bowl for every rouge to use to drink from the lake." I said and he agreed. "Everybody should get the same size wood and make their own bowl out of it. They can help each other if they can't make a bowl." Jac said. "Tomorrow?" "Yeah, sounds great." We decided to go back outside and the rouges were already back with their catch. We put half of the catch on the fire and chatted. The wolves in wolf form ate the raw animals and sometimes wolves like Luca eat the animals raw in human form. We were talking and talking about nothing and everything. Some asked about the new girl, if she would stay. We said we didn't know. Fox also had his attention. The rouges knew how he looked before he went to the lightning pack and saw how he looked now. They asked how he came across us and what happened to him before he was here. He told them about his alpha hating him for being friends with the alpha's daughter. He was mad at it and wounded him as bad as he could and decided to let him die a slow and painful death in the forest. Then Rowan and Abigail found him and brought him hear. The rouges whistled and clapped for Rowan and Abigail. It is an honour to find new rouges and bring them here because it is hard. They are often afraid of everything and everyone, they can't move, they are practically dead or just hard to take with you to the base. If you find a wounded rouge and manage to bring them here you get much respect from the others. "Rowan and I were just running, letting our wolves out. I had a nightmare that night and needed some relieve. Than I smelled blood, much blood. We decided to follow the scent to see what was wrong. We saw Fox laying on the ground, practically dead at that point. He was bloody and dirty and all his wounds were probably infected. We managed to get him on Rowan's back because he can handle the scent of blood better and is stronger. We have struggled a lot but eventually got him here. Marcel already smelled the blood as we were arriving and decided to lay him on the rock. That was when he roared as loud as possible to call the death twins. They came the same day and luckily knew what had to be done. There our fame went. We brought them in, we were heroes, they treated them, their the heroes." Abigail said, the last part laughing. "Hurray for Abigail and Rowan!" I laughed. We all cheered, laughed and stayed up until midnight. Wolves began sleeping and only Luca, Drake, Jac and I stayed at the fire. "Anything planned for tomorrow?" Drake asked. "We decided it would be fun to all make our own bowls." I said. "Why?" Luca asked. "To drink and eat from and to do something tomorrow." Jac said and he rolled his eyes. "We don't need bowls." Luca said. "Then they will just be reserve in the house." I said. Luca sighted. "Let's go to sleep." He said and we all drifted away.
