The Silent Howlers

Jac's P.O.V I woke up to Alex poking me. I groaned and slowly realised I locked him in between our giant wolves. I moved my tail to create a walk though and fell asleep directly after. I was not feeling like getting up at all. I heard other wolves getting up to start drinking but both Sam and I kept laying. I knew Sam was awake and I knew she wouldn't get up either. We were charging up for the battle with Colin. "Sam? Jac?" I heard Alex' soft voice. I knew Sam would get up for him, for sure. She loves him and wants him to be part of our family, like a little brother. "Good morning, Alex." Sam said. "Raven is gone." He said with a sad tone in his voice. Now I got up as well. "She already said she would leave today. She doesn't like any attention and most rogues hadn't even seen her while she was here. She is living her best life now out there." I said. "She is free and that is what makes her happy." Sam said. Alex' sad face turned into a soft smile. "You are leaving today too, right?" He asked and his face turning sad again. "Yes," I said. "But we will be back soon." "And Luca will take care of you." Sam said. "You promised you would keep being a good boy, even when we were gone for a while, right?" Sam asked and he nodded. "I will only be for a few days." He said, reassuring himself. Sam and I both nodded. Maybe Sam was right. I did feel something for this little boy. Was it because he was making my sister happy, making me happy. I don't know. I knew that I would allow him to become my little brother, but he would have to accept that I will be overprotective of him. As long as he knows that's part of the deal, he can become my little bro. Sam head bumped me out of my thoughts and we went for a drink. We were ready to leave until Alex came running from the hut. He ran towards us and had something in his hands. We looked at him as he arrived panting. "Thi... This... This was laying in the hut." He tried to tell between his panting. "What is it?" Sam asked. "Is it from Raven? Or is it hers and did she accidentally leave it here." I wondered. "There was a note with it saying it was for you, Sam." Alex said now with better control of his breathing. We all looked at it. I was a box, about the size of a hand. The box was black and decorated with red linings and signs. "Can you open it for me?" Sam asked Alex and he carefully opened the box. After opening it he took out a necklace. It was black thread with a red feather. We all admired it. It was subtle yet beautiful. "Alex, I can't wear it. I want you to wear it and look after it until I can shift and I will be able to wear it." Sam said. "But.." Alex started. "Alex, don't worry. It is meant for me but I can't look after it. I want you to look after it as long as I can't." Sam said. Alex slowly nodded and put it around his neck. He looked proud to wear it. Luca joined us. "Did I miss anything?" He asked. "A lot." Alex said looking at the necklace around his neck. "That is a beautiful necklace you got there." Luca said. "Raven gave it to Sam but she can't wear it and wants me to look after it." Alex told him. Luca looked at Sam and smiled at her. "Tell them goodbye and to have a nice trip." Luca told Alex. "Bye, see you in a few days." He said and he hugged us. I petted his head with my head and Sam licked his face. "See you soon." We said and we left. I have to learn never to say that again. Sam and I were in Colin's territory in no time. We would attack tomorrow but plan it today. We saw camera's all around the territory. There were guards marching from place to place. It looked like we were in a war zone. We decided to sit on the opposite sides of the territory and tell each other about what happens there. A live report. After watching the house for a while, we came to the conclusion that only guards were outside and no other wolves. Guards were marching all over the place and even had guns. They were all in human form and I didn't know if we would do good or bad by killing them. "Maybe we have to get in at night." I suggested. "Yes, we would be less visible and there will be less people who we shouldn't hurt. But not tonight, tomorrow. We should first see what is going on in the night." Sam said. We agreed to find a place to sleep just at the border of Colin's territory. We woke up when the sun set and we walked back to the pack house. There were no lights whatsoever. Not in the house and not around it. We both circled the house for a while and only saw a couple guards. Sam and I luckily have a great vision of the dark, because it was very dark. "Maybe we should listen to what is going on inside." I suggester. We stopped circling and listened. Silence. The walls and doors were sound proof but we would always be able to hear some sound. We smelled for any scent. There were wolves all over the place. The pack house was small and the description Alex gave us tells us not all wolves had a good place to sleep. I tried to listen to the heartbeats and it worked, but I regretted it immediately. Heart beats all over the place deafened me. "Do not try to listen for heartbeats." Told Sam groaning. She laughed at me. By smelling we could sketch the building and where everyone was. I noticed I smelled only three people in a very large spot. "I think I've found Colin." I said and Sam came towards me to smell. "Yes, that's him for sure. We know where to go tomorrow, I think it is best to make it a stealth mission because you saw the amount of guns per guard. If we would just kill Colin and lay him in Nick's territory, our work will be done." Sam said and I nodded. "Let's leave their territory, it's better to be save than sorry." I said and we left the Silent Howlers' territory.
