Mates

Oliver P.O.V When I came here with Marcel, Sam and the boy, the first thing I noticed was an intoxicating smell. It smelled like vanilla and honey. It was the sweetest scent I had ever smelled. The whole time Marcel was talking I was just thinking about the person who would have such an amazing smell. We followed the warrior to the pack house and the scent got stronger. I have always been jealous of the rouges with mates and now it was about to happen. We entered the pack house and all wolves looked at us. There were a lot and I now understood why Sam had to let her nose rest for a bit. All three of us were hit with the same amount of scents but I just concentrated on the sweetest one. I followed it and looked in the direction. There she stood, a beautiful girl, staring at me just like I was staring at her. She had her beautiful blonde hair in a fish braid, she was short and had brown eyes. I couldn't stop staring but then Marcel kicked me. "Hey, lovebird. I can't carry him alone. You can meet her after we bring the boy to the pack doctor." I sighted and carried the boy through the pack house. The warrior led us to the doctor and we laid him on the bed. The doctor quickly shook our hand and introduced herself before observing the boy. "Hi, I'm Doctor Celina." after she inspected the wounds she asked. "Who kept him alive? He should have been dead." We were silent. "Guardian angels." The boy said weak. His voice was soft and his throat was dry. Marcel and I were surprised by it. "Why so surprised? Is guardian angels not the way you would describe his saviours?" Celina asked. "No, I would describe them exactly the same. It is his first time talking. He didn't have the power to talk the past week." I said. "Well, angels they are because I don't know what they used for his survival." Celina said. "Herbs." Marcel said. "Herbs that grow in the forest. I couldn't recognise what herbs but they obviously worked." Celina went to work on the boy's body and disinfected some wounds that were infected despite the herbs. "But seriously, who are they. I want to learn how they did this. It is great work. Why did you come here if you could have just stayed with them." Celina asked dripping rubbing alcohol on the boys body. Marcel and I looked at each other. "Do you know who or what we even are? Or where we came from?" Marcel asked. Celina looked up. "Nope." She said. "But it must be a very strong pack." I shook my head slowly. "What do you mean?" She asked confused. "Celina, we are rogues. We don't come from a pack. We live free and we just want him to be free too. But when you're living in the forest, you don't have a lot of medical supplies." I said. She really didn't know we were rogues. "But... but..." She stuttered. "But how the hell did you keep him alive then. I mean I'm glad, but how. This is nearly impossible." She said. "Nearly." Marcel repeated. She smiled. "But seriously, who." She then asked. Marcel and I looked at each other and decided not to say who, since they apparently have a bad reputation around here. When she knew we weren't going to say who, she shrugged. "Well, anyway. welcome to the pack." I shook my head. "No. You don't understand. We're here for the boy. We're here to make sure he's safe and when he is, we go back home." "And were is that?" Celina asked. "Anywhere other than a pack." "Why all that hate towards packs?" she asked. "We all come from abusive alphas. Our boy over here just tells us they're still not gone." Marcel said. Celina didn't know what to say and just told us we could leave the boy in the hospital while we went to see our new rooms. When we went outside I saw her, my mate. "She is beautiful." A voice in my head said. I felt like I knew it but I had never heard it before. "Who or what are you?" I thought, trying to let that voice hear it. "I am your wolf. I can talk to you but our old alpha forbid everyone to talk to their wolf. My name is Raff." The voice said. "Wow..." Was all I could think. Raff laughed. "Go talk to our mate." He said and he left my thoughts. That's weird. "Hi." I said. "Hi." She said and Marcel sighted. "This is Oliver. Oliver this is your mate. Please stop this awkward silence and talk to each other while getting to know each other." Marcel was one hell of kind. He knows how to bring the stuff you need to hear but don't want to hear. Or when you just don't know how, he tells you what you have to do straight forward. "Uhhm... Hey, I'm Oliver and I'm 18 years old." I said and she smiled. "I'm Ruth, I'm 18 too." she blushed a bit and it made her so cute. I wanted her, I needed her. Then we got Marcel break the silence again. "Could you might show us around or to our rooms?" He asked. Ruth nodded and went through the hall way, to the grant staircase by in the main entrance to go to the first floor." I was amazed by how huge it all was. I saw most people were sad though, how could you be sad when you live here, in this mansion. Then Raff jumped in my head. "I did listen to the conversation and their Alpha is killed not too long ago." I got scared of him and froze. "It's okay Oliver. You have never heard me before but don't mind it. I'm just your wolf and I can come and bother you whenever I want." He said. It was obviously my wolf with my stupid sassy humour. I liked it. Ruth showed us our rooms, which were, luckily, next to each other. Marcel was like my third guardian. He took care of all the rogues when Sam and Jac were away. He cares for rogues, freedom and just people in general just as much as the twins do. "Oliver?" Ruth asked when Marcel was in his room and we were in mine. "Yes?" "Will you accept me?" She asked and I didn't understand why I wouldn't and why she would think about it like that. "Yes, of course I will accept you. You are the most beautiful person I have ever met. You are al ready the best thing to ever happen to me." I told her and I went in for a hug but she slipped past me and sat on the bed. I closed the door, took a chair and sat in front of her. "Ruth, what's wrong. I don't understand why you're acting like this. Did something bad happened to you? Did I do something to give you the wrong idea?" I asked slowly, looking in her brown eyes. "Yes, the first one, but I shouldn't cry about it. It was my fault and mine alone." She said. "Tell me." "No, you either won't understand or think of it the way I don't want you to." She said. "Ruth, please. We only just met, but you are my mate and I already can't stand seeing you like this, you being so hurt, and I definitely can't stand the fact that you won't even tell me why." I said grabbing her hands and putting them between mine. She was so small and all I wanted was to protect her and see her happy. Nothing else mattered to me at the moment. I could even move in this pack if she doesn't want to come with me to live free, just to see her happy. I know Sam and Jac will warn me but let me do it, they know it is my decision and not theirs. I also know they will tell me more than a thousand time that if something doesn't feel right, I have to tell them. They act like parents to the rogues, but cool parents. They are the youngest of all rouges but probably the wisest. "Oliver?" Ruth asked. "I'm so sorry, I kind of wandered off. This is all just pretty new to me. Mates and packs. But tell me what is bothering you." I said looking back in her eyes, showing her I'm interested. "Well." She said. "I just wanted to say that I'm really thankful for the moon goddess. I have to tell you something because now I can, now I have the chance to and later I will keep it away from you and hide it for as long as possible. Than I'll probably also be bothered by it all my life that in this one moment that I had the chance, I didn't tell you." She stopped and looked me in the eyes to see whether she could continue or not. "Go on." I said, encouraging her. "I mean, I'm only 18 and you can find your mate at the age sixteen and sometimes even a little earlier, but you aren't my first mate." I was confused. "How long have you been eighteen?" I asked. "For half a year." She said looking down. "No, no. Don't be sad or think I'm mad or anything. What happened to your first mate?" I asked, lifting her chin so she looked right in my eyes. I just wanted to show her that I was interested in her, her past and her story. "He rejected me." She said and her eyes got wet. "Why?" I asked ready to get up and hug her. "I wasn't enough for him. I didn't have money or status. He said he got bored of me in every possible way and especially in bed." She cried softly. I now got up and hugged her. I carefully  lifted her, turned around sat back down. Now I sat hugging her while she was sitting on my lap. "He is just a spoiled brat who doesn't know what he wants." I told her. "I know exactly what I want and I can promise you, you fit that description perfectly." I tried to calm her down but she couldn't. She was obviously trying but she just couldn't stop crying. "I am so thankful to the moon goddess that she gave us a chance. I don't know much about the moon goddess, but I know she only give second chances when she thinks it could really work out, she only does what she thinks is best and she is the second most amazing woman there is." Ruth started sobbing instead of crying and I was relieved. "And you, my love. Are the most amazing woman, excuse me, person I have ever met and could ever meet." I told her and she started to smile, she still sobbed but she smiled. I could only smile back at her. I did it, I was amazing. I made my mate happy again. I made her smile and she made me smile because of that. "Will you show me your room now? I think it is a bit unfair if you can visit me whenever you want while I just have to wait till you come." I said. She nodded, got of my lap and grabbed my hand. She was excited and that made me excited. Her room was on the same floor but on the other side of the building. We entered her room and I immediately let myself fall down on her bed and I groaned. "What is it. Is there something wrong?" She asked anxious. "Yes, something is very wrong." I said. I smelled her fear and I didn't like it. "Your room is on the complete opposite side of the house, how can that not be wrong." I said and she smiled and laughed. "Why did you scare me like that, now move a bit so I can lay down too." She said. "No." I answered. "When you entered my room, you immediately claimed my bed, now I am doing the same. It's what you get." I was happy with her and closed my eyes thinking about her. Then she did something that told me she had faith in us, she jumped on me and just laid on me since I didn't give her space on her bed. "Do you think this is torture for not giving you space in your own bed?" I asked and she nodded. "Well, it is a pleasure. I now have my own personal, hugging blanket." I told her and she laughed. She wrapped her arms around me and hugged me until we both fell asleep.
