Melinda looked at the open doorway and did not know what to do. On one hand, she had to try and heal Menessa, but on the other, she also wanted to be free. She couldn't escape through that bedroom window in eagle form because of the narrowly spaced burglar bars. Yet, what would happen to Raul if she escaped now? Would Menessa still find a way to capture him when there was nobody to use as bait in luring him into the bedroom? She decided to cease the chance and leave the room anyway, because she could always work on Menessa's healing at some other time.
Melinda walked out the door quickly before Menessa would remember that he did not lock the room. She turned towards one side, out in the passage and just continued to walk swiftly, in the hope that Menessa had taken another direction.
