I glance nervously at Pike, my heart pounding with anticipation. “Are you sure it’s safe to go out tonight?” I ask, my voice insecure as I fidget with the hem of my black dress. It’s one of those stretchy ones for pregnant women.
“Relax, beautiful,” he reassures me, his voice deep and sexy like always. “Tonight’s my sister’s birthday, remember? She will be too wasted to even think about giving her warrior wolves any orders to kill us for leaving the cottage. Besides, we are in an entirely different city ruled by another Alpha - she can’t attack us without their permission.”
“True...”
He chuckles. “And if we are attacked, then I’m more than certain you will be able to protect us,” a flirtatious wink is sent my way. “You’re stronger than you think.”
