BALQIS'S POV
BACK TO PRESENT
The lights shut off immediately after this announcement was made.
The next thing we heard was.... "Dance performance by the dancingale group..." After this, the chariot had disappeared, and the dancers climbed the stage to start dancing, which got a lot of people wondering.
All these happened in a very short time, not even up to two minutes, and when I looked around, none of the Bermuda mansion residents were around; they'd disappeared.
People were quick to stop talking about it, as the MC took the stage when he noticed that people weren't listening. "Please focus on the sho..w."
I knew something was wrong.
Something really happened, we all saw that someone fell into the chariot, but how are they
able to quickly erase the evidence?
I turned from the stage, set to go to a secluded place to gather my thoughts, because the voices in my head, combined with the music they're playing.... All made me dizzy.
Moments later, I was off the stairs and led to a unit I didn't know since I took the stairs.
Aside from being tired, a headache had invaded my head, and what I was determined to investigate was temporarily forgotten.
All I wanted was to get Riot and leave this place.
Still walking around aimlessly, I bumped into Nirvana.
"Hey!" she yelled fearsomely. "Why...Why are you here?"
I reached out and grabbed the wall to support my stance because my leg couldn't hold my body anymore. "Pl.... Please help me get my son"..
Nirvana stepped away from me. "What are you doing? Are you drunk?"
I don't even know what was happening to me anymore at this stage. I still grabbed hold of the wall, and I reached out my second hand. "Nirv, please! Help me get Riot from the community room."
"But what happened to you?" She still pressed. "If you're too drunk, I can lead you to lie in the guest restroom and..."
That's all I could hear from her words before a sudden burst of pain hit my body, and I don't know when I landed on the floor.
My vision dimmed, and the last thing I could hear was "Balqis!!"
~~>
"Balqis...." I heard that slow, familiar voice above my head. "Did you want me to die again after all I did to stay alive for you?"
The voices in my head had disappeared to wherever they came from, and my body felt light, just like the normal me.
But as I opened my eyes, the first person I saw made me jerk up immediately. "A... Adonai?"
His eyes held deep sorrow and remorse, like the last time I saw him at the Orthodox doctor.
Those blue eyes and that golden head were just like I knew him to always be, even though now older.
"I...I miss you," He whispered slowly as he got up, because he'd sat before me previously. "I miss you so much that it hu,,rts and I couldn't sleep since...",
"Liar," I interrupted him. "Liar, Liar pants on fire!, Adonai. You missed me but disappeared for eight fuckin years!!"
"I never left you," He defended himself, offering his hand, but I refused. "I searched for you endlessly. My body is always on fire anytime I think of you, and I never for once. Forget you or our child."
His words turned my stomach in pain. "Says the man who married and gave birth to a fat girl!"
"I never remarried. Sheila and I were just contract couples to make this facade look real." He ran his hand through his hair. "I looked death in the face just to see this day again, Balqis.."
"I suffered a lot because of the bite you left on me that took my wolf," I sobbed, taking a step towards him. I hate him for leaving me behind to take care of a child alone at twenty-eight years old!
But I still miss him. "Why haven't you found us all these while?"
We ended up in each other's arms. Tears of unspoken pains, days of longing and tears, the shock of seeing each other for the first time, all came into one big lump of tears.
"I...I love you," I suddenly heard him say through our hug. I didn't move, but hugged him tighter, inhaling his scent before releasing him.
"Why did you marry Sheila? You could have tried finding me, right?"
He pulled me himself, his hand on my waist, and his head lowered a little, as if he wanted to mention a top secret. "Eight years ago, the sorcerer who revived me was Julius. Your ex, my best friend..."
I gasped out of his grip. "Julius did what?" Since I knew Julius, he was never a fetish not to talk of being someone as a sorcerer. "Why would he do that, and how come he was a sorcerer?"
"I later learned he orchestrated the plane crash to get me. I couldn't see you as I wanted to when because he'd kill anyone who knows we're alive until we pay off the debt for keeping us alive".
That sounds scary. I pulled off him as he explained a lot about the sorcery and how it worked, and the last thing that took me off guard was when he mentioned that Julius stole my second baby, making it look like it died.
"Isis is Sheila's daughter. We're both running the facade of Mr and Mrs Drunkmage until I find where Julius is and take my child from him," He concluded finally. The little explanation seemed to fill he gap of the eight years we were apart.
He claimed he'd seen me before, at Mrs Kath's burial, but couldn't approach me, and now, we wouldn't be together because people know him as Drunkmage now.
"Riot looks so much like you," I told him. "He always reminded me of you."
We settled on the sofa. "Isis talked about him a lot of time, me, and I'm surprised how the two of them became close so fast. But I love that name you gave our son, Ba..lqis."
We kissed and recalled a lot of memories until his phone rang from Sheila calling him downstairs. It was sad to part ways with him, but I held him tighter, "I will do my best to raise Riot well. We shall both wait for you."
Adonai kissed me goodbye and left. I broke down in tears.
--
After some minutes of reminiscing, I left the room to join the event sincI'm'm now fine, the reason why the voice in my head wouldn't stop was that I was near Adonai.
Just as I entered the elevator and pressed the command for the ground floor where the event was happening, I suddenly remembered the reason why I left in the first place....
Damn it!! I cursed, I forgot to ask Adonai all about it.
Not too long after, the elevator stopped and the operator itself. I was expecting to meet myself on the ground floor, but no. What I saw was the 35th floor.
"How come?" I wondered aloud. However, just as I turned to go back into the elevator, something stopped me.
I looked down slowly, and at m,y feet a girl I once helped, her clothes and body drenched in blood.
I yelled in panic. "NO!!!!!!!"
