ADONAI'S POV
Sheila pulled me to a corner as soon as Balqis left my side to look for her kid. “What the f**k are you doing?”
“What are talking about?”
She beat her chest as a matter of factly. “How does it feel to humiliate your wife in front of everyone?”
Her assumptions aren't clear to me yet. “Sheila what are you saying?”
She pushed my chest, making my back touch the cold tiles. “Must you tell everyone out there that you were fuckin Balqis? That pathetic wolf-less b***h was even appointed PTA chairman”
Now I understand where she was going. I haven't told her what Balqis and I planned after her release from the police station.
I'd decided never to leave her anymore. I would stay by her side and our son. Isis wasn't mine anyway.
“Everything between you and I is just a contract, I hope you remember that and stay in your lane” I told her, attempted to leave, she pulled me back.
“Is this the plan? You must be anxious to humiliate me so much, I see”
I hissed, her sense of humor and sense of reasoning annoying me to the core. “What is the humiliation? We're not real couples so why should I still be holding on to you when you…”
“Adonai!!” She shrieked. “f**k her privately and stop humiliating me, that's all I know!”
Pushing me again, she swore. “As from now, I'll make sure she wished she'd never meet you again, because this is not our plan”
“Shei…”
She stormed out furiously.
I heaved a long sigh before going after her. Perhaps what I did was unreasonable after all. Everyone know Sheila as my wie I shouldn't…
“Mommy”
“My baby!!”
Balqis and Riot hugged each other happily while Sheila sat at some corner with Isis.
I stopped for a moment. Either real or counterfeit, Isis is also my daughter… do I leave her to be with Riot who still held a grudge of what happened when his mother got arrested?
“Daddy?” I suddenly heard Isis called, I smiled and joined them on the seat watching other parents with thier children, but my eyes was only on that one person….
Subconsciously, watching her and our son calmed my soul in a way I wasn't expecting. I smiled.
“Daddy, why are you smiling? Should I bring Riot over?”
“Hey… what are you saying? I waved my hand quickly. “No need. I just…. I just feel happy and…”
Sheila got up. “Riot and her mum could join us since he doesn't have a father and other kids wouldn't play with him”
I couldn't call Sheila back, she'd already gotten to where Balqis was. Our eyes met, she smiled at me, but Sheila barked at her. “Who’a the father of your son, Mrs Malkova?”
My heart jumped. “Honey. You shouldn't ask her such…”
“What are you saying darling?” Sheila looked at me devilishly, purposely talking loudly so the others like Nirvana and Keira's family would hear it. “Riot is a sweet boy and Isis's best friend. We should know everything about him, right?”
I glared at her with frustration. So this is where she was driving to? Making Balqis a public scorn.
I took her hand. “Come with me”
“No” Sheila snapped her hand from me. “Why are you being like this? Didn't you also wanto to know the father of the boy? The way he looks like you needs a proper explanation”
Balqis's eyes flashed of fear, but I assured her with a corner smile.
Still yet, Sheila faced her again. “Why are you not answering?”
Nirvana had walked seductively to the scene, her daughter Aisha tagging along. “You don't need to stress yourself, Mrs Mage. I know when she got pregnant for her boyfriend's beat friend!”
I clenched my fists, and I couldn't hold myself back. “You're no better!”
She chuckled. “why are you talking like you know the whole story, Mr Mage? Or it could be you…?”
Everyone gasped. Elon rushed and grabbed her hand. “Darling, you should get something done at the office…”
“Hubby didn't you also say Mr Mage is the split image of your dead friend?”
Elon's eyes met mine, he was sure I was Adonai, but he couldn't prove it because the Adonai he knew was a drunkard soand later a revenant and someone who couldn't even have a family.
He looked away. “You're talking nonsense, let's go”
Nirvana doesn't want to leave, subconsciously I caught her making eye contact with Sheila a and the next thing I heard was “Why are you suddenly tongue tied?”
“My son has no father. His father is dead” Balqis confessed, looking at me. “Adonai died in a plane crash and that's the last time I'd saw him”
My heart pulsed with pain, hearing her saying this felt so painful, but it's fine.
I angrily left the scene, or else my anger could get the better of me if I stayed there too much.
I stopped at the basement of some office, fetched my cigarette, ready to smoke my sorrow away, but someone snatched it before I could pull the lighter. “This is a learning environment”
“Alpha Moses?” I straightened to greet the Alpha but he stood beside me.
“Nice move you pulled earlier… Mr Mage” he dragged the name as he doesn't want to say it. It felt suspicious, but I shrugged and offered my hand for a shake.
“Nice talking to you, Alpha”
He stared at the field filled with playing and children, then shook his head. “I used to love someone like that too”
“No. It's not love I just….”
“I see it in your face” He stopped me. “No man looks at a woman that tenderly and say it's not love”
I looked down in embrassment. “I know… I just…”
He patted my shoulder. “If you love it, go for it, Mr Mage. I can see that there's no love between you and that woman…Mrs Mage”
“I don't want to talk about this, Alpha” I looked away and got ready to go. I can't trust him with any secret or truth yet… I don't know if he'd be an enemy or a friend.
“You sure you don't wanna talk about it?” He asked making me pause.
“What did you mean?”
His sly smile flashed again. “Gamma Adonai….”
I froze on my feet. It's been long since someone called me that and it felt foreign hearing from others aside from Balqis.
He walked up to me, his smile making it harder to guess what he was trying to say. “Sometimes out enemy is closer than we think… don't you think?”
I still haven't found the courage to talk.
“Do did a good job in hiding your identity, perhaps not all are hidden like you thought”
“I… I don't know what you're talking about, but thank and I'll love it if you call me Mage for now” I quickly told him and walked away briskly.
It's dangerous for him to know who I was. Gwi is still out there and I don't know where he might be.
