CHAPTER 29 BRAX For a moment, Brax thought he’d dreamed the whole thing. When he woke, the other side of his bed was empty, the apartment silent. But no, the room smelled of s*x, and the remains of a lacy bra lay on the floor beside the nightstand. So where was Meera? He rolled out of bed, relishing the glorious ache that only came from a twelve-hour s*x session, and checked the bathroom, the dressing room, and the kitchen, but there was no sign of her. Had she, for some unholy reason, thought she should go to work today? Without her underwear? He called his own extension, but she didn’t pick up. Her cell phone went straight to voicemail, and a hint of worry crept into Brax’s thoughts. Then he found the note. She’d left it propped against a vase in the hall, a hastily penned paragraph
