I’m not sure how many more hours passed before the door to my cell swung open, letting in a flood of light that made me blink and made my eyes water. For a few moments, all I could see was the backs of my eyelids and quick glimpses of the room. A metal door with a shuttered window. Cells that looked more like hospital rooms in a too narrow hall with scarce lighting. My other senses told me vamps were swarming the room, but I couldn’t get a very good look at them. The light was blinding after being in the dark, and they moved too swiftly, and when I could finally concentrate on them after they roughly unchained me and began to drag me out of my own cell, I realized they all had their heads covered.
