Chapter 6

During the commotion when I was so focused on preventing Nero from lashing out at the two girls who were heard mocking my appearance, I didn't notice that the cat had slipped out of sight. I was so distracted and still confused even after Nero had left that I didn't notice it's absence until Matt suggested that we move on to the next class. Judging from what had happened with the two gossiping girls and the chattering he heard when the students met with each other in the hallways, he was able to deduce that I had created a mass discomfort throughout the school. Because he wasn't certain of which class to take me to next, he decided that he would bring me to his next and last lesson for the day so that he could monitor me. He didn't see me as a threat but he couldn't take the risk considering Nero's reaction. "We should hurry along to the next less-" "Where is he?" I muttered under my breath as I lowered my gaze to the floor. I had only met the cat a while ago but seeing that he had disappeared brought about a sense of concern from deep inside me. It couldn't be explained why I cared so much about the cat but I was worried that something could have happened to him during the commotion. "Nero? Knowing him, he's probably thinking about skipping the last lesson. He should be in the dormitory," Matt explained, motioning with his hand for me to follow him. I shook my head and turned my gaze to look up at him. "I'm talking about the cat," I replied, and the redhead took to searching about the hallways for him as well. "It must've been spooked by the commotion. But you shouldn't worry about it. It'll show up sooner or later," Matt said next. I didn't know what to do but there was something about Matt's expression and soft gaze that convinced me that everything would be fine and that the cat really would show up later. "You should give it name so that you can call for it the next time an inconvenience like this occurs," was Matt's suggestion that made me contemplate for a moment. It had never crossed my mind to give the cat a name but Matt made a valid point. It would have been better if I had a name to call the cat so that I could call for him when he disappeared. He wouldn't be around me all the time as cats would sometimes stray from the owners for a while. "You're right. But I don't know where to start," I said. "Do you know it's gender?" And Matt asked, to which I replied that the cat was a male. He pursed his lips as we went deep into thought, thinking up a name just as I did as well. When he thought of a name he thought I would be pleased with, he flashed a grin in my direction that made me raise an eyebrow. Amidst the chaos, Funfun, had found a way to unnoticeably latch onto the leg of Nero's black pants. He was so distracted with fury that he didn't even feel the cat climb up his leg and sneak underneath his blazer where it latched on to his shirt and didn't butch an inch even as Nero stormed off to the staircase on the other side of the floor. He climbed up to the fourth and final floor of the building where the dormitory for the first five of the red-ties was. The ten red-ties were divided into two and the first five had their dormitory on one side of the fourth floor while the last five had theirs on the third floor. The rest of the students had their dorms on the other side of all the floors and the teachers had their own separate building on the island where they would reside for the school term. As expected, the living conditions of the red-ties differed immensely just as the purple-ties' dorms were better than the blue-ties'. The red-ties did not share their rooms with anyone but they shared one common area where they would meet up before heading on to their rooms. There was a large door at the end of the hallway that Nero walked through to meet the rest of the first half of the red-ties. The common area had a variety of furniture and recreational activities just as any other dormitory on any campus did. He had hoped he could cool off in the common area with some privacy but the moment he stepped through the door, he felt a sharp pain surge through his backside and he groaned as he tried to figure out what the cause of the pain was. He wriggled about for a moment, moving his hands behind his back until he got so mad that he almost tore his blazer off his body. His actions were observed by another presence in the room who found the scene very amusing, especially when Nero's hand finally latched onto Funfun's body to drag him away from his backside. The cat had dug his claws into Nero's back because he had been about to fall off. Nero was more than surprised at the sight of the white cat. "I knew you were always a rebel, but I never thought you would sneak a pet into the school," he heard a voice call out to him in amusement as he watched the cat wriggle in his arms. He then turned his attention to the fellow red-tie who was seated on a couch in the common area, a blueberry ice lollipop in his hand. Nero sighed heavily and quickly released the cat's body when it dug its claws into the flesh of his hands. "Why would I think to bring this villainous cat with me? He'd tear my face to shreds if I slept near him," he said as the cat landed on the floor on its legs. Of course, Nero knew that it was the cat that was with me when we met, but he did wonder how it managed to get underneath his blazer without him noticing it. "Well, it's here, isn't it? It has to have been snuck in because pets aren't allowed here," the boy with the lollipop in his hand stood up from the couch, tossing the half eaten ice pop in the bin across the room. Once his hands were free, he buried them in his pockets and approached Nero, a smug expression on his face. "I hear you've finally learned the definition of 'mercy'. You spared some peasants from a lifetime of humiliation? That's new. What's gotten into that thick head of yours?" He stopped in front of Nero, showing the height difference between the two that angered Nero so much that he walked forward and bumped shoulders into him. "Hey... if you want to take your anger out on something..." he followed behind as Nero walked over to his bedroom door. He took off his shirt and brought it around to look at the small blood stains and the tiny rips caused by Funfun's claws. He clicked his tongue and stopped to open the door, however, he was stopped when the other person stood behind, too close as well. He reached his arm out and rested it over Nero's shoulder, sliding his hand down his front to brush his fingers against his collar bone. "I'm willing to take all the pain for you," he purred into Nero's ear, his chin rested on his other shoulder with his lips lightly touching his earlobe. "Stop it, Felix. I'm not in the mood for this right now," Nero said in a low tone but Felix pretended as though he didn't hear him. He snaked his free hand around Nero's waist from behind and brought it down to the belt that held up his pants. Before he could unbuckle the belt, Nero dropped the bloodied shirt to the floor and took ahold of his hand before it would stray past the point of no return. "No, you are in the mood. Isn't this when you usually run to me looking to blow off some steam?... I'm ready for you now," Felix whispered, lightly biting Nero's earlobe. That action made the latter flinch, something Felix didn't fail to notice. He grit his teeth and used both of his hands to force Nero to turn around to face him by grasping his shoulders, then he proceeded to push his back against the door. Nero whinched from the pain when the cuts were irritated, but he did nothing to move Felix away to give him some reprieve. "What is wrong with you?" The taller of the two asked. When he finally decided to pay the tiniest bit of attention to Nero, he saw something in his eyes he hadn't seen in a long time. He loosened his grip on his shoulders and chuckled to himself as Nero stared straight at his chest. "Don't tell me that you're falling for her again? Now that she's back, you want to get with her again," Felix explained. On any other day, Nero would have denied that claim but that was the truth. There was something about me and the change in my appearance and personality that made him like me more than he ever did before. Felix watched as Nero's eyes moved down to the floor before he heaved a sigh, pushing his arms away from his chest. "It's not what you think-" "It definitely is what I think it is. What is it? The new, giant boobs? Did they catch your attention?" It's not as though Felix was wrong about that. Nero had definitely noticed my chest and had struggled to keep his eyes off it. It was only when I nearly squished Funfun's body against it that he averted his eyes to something else. "No, not just that. It's her... I don't know... her personality, I guess," he replied in almost a whisper. Watching Nero so confused and nervous before him made Felix excited. He loved that vulnerable side that the tyrant would rather show, and even if he did, it was always behind closed doors. However, he hated the fact that I was the one who made Nero feel so insecure about his feelings. "Her personality? Is this the same Sophia from before that we're talking about? I doubt there's anything likeable about her personality, even now... Besides," Felix leaned in closer to Nero's face. He took ahold of his chin to tilt his head upwards so that they were both making eye contact. Felix looked down at Nero's brown eyes and he at his pale, green ones. "Even if you do like her again, you know that you can't be with her. You broke up for a reason, remember?" Nero listened carefully as Felix spoke to him, stating a valid point that made him hate a very important aspect of his life. Nero and Sophia's families were natural competitors and their interests aligned greatly, meaning that they would often bump heads with each other. In that world, there was no such thing as allies, even if the two parties were interested in the same thing. The reason the two students broke up before was because their parents forbid them from being together. They feared that they had been using their children to learn whatever secrets that were hidden for their own benefits. Nero was so caught up in his thoughts that he didn't notice Felix moving in to kiss his lips. And Felix was so focused on taking Nero's lips that he didn't noticed Funfun standing next to his leg. The cat swiped his front legs, his claws ripping through Felix's pants and scratching against his flesh. He groaned loudly and moved away from Nero, looking down at the cat. "Get this stupid thing out of here!" Felix yelled out, glaring down at the cat. Nero sighed from annoyance and crouched down to pick up Funfun by the scruff of his neck. "Make sure that everyone else gathers here by the end of this lesson," he turned around and opened the door to his bedroom, reaching his hand past the door and releasing the cat's neck so that he could fall on his feet in the room. Before Funfun could run out, Nero closed the door and picked up his shirt off the floor. "Do you mean all the red-ties?" Felix asked. "Yes. There's a new problem that has to be dealt with," and Nero said as he put on his shirt. He had wanted to change into a cleaner one but something else had come up. Felix, fully aware of what Nero was planning, ran his hand through his short, black hair with a sigh. It was someone's unfortunate day, but they were lucky that the year was almost at an end. As the former 3rd ranked and now the 4th, he was lucky that he wouldn't be involved in that mess, but now that the female tyrant had returned, life would become a lot more hectic than it was before she left.
