I was looking down, glimpsing at the city itself. Everything was about to change for me. Who knows, maybe something great was to happen.
My trusty friend was already waiting for me downstairs, in a cab. I grabbed a pair of jeans and a baggy T-shirt, pulled my hair up in a bun and I was out the door.
''You look like s**t. Sorry to say.''
''Noemi, I have no intention of getting all dolled up after last night. I just need a breather. Besides, you'll get more looks than ever.''
''Oh, such a good friend...''
''You can be such a b***h sometimes.''
''I know.''- Noemi responded in a heartbeat. This was kind of our dynamic. She was a true friend indeed. We were there for one another. This was my sister, my confidence, my family, pretty much. Noemi filled a lot of empty spaces in my life.
We walk into the restaurant and I can reassure you that I was pretty underdressed. We get a private booth.
After a glass of red wine, I start to laugh a bit. We kept talking and talking. Then Noemi started asking me questions about last night.
I placed my head in between my palms. I closed my eyes and stated out loud: I have no f*****g clue.
''You know there's someone right now watching us, especially staring at you.
Wait, what? Where?
By the bar.
I turned my head around. There was nothing, but drunk and horny males, waiting for the femme fatale at the bar to let them make a move.
''No, you silly goose. The guy at the table next to the exit door.''
''I don't know him at all.''
''Well, maybe he's the one from last night. ''
Clearly, Noemi had no idea about who he was. ''Listen, We were dancing, singing. All I can remember is a man, damn, he was fine... grabbed your waist and you turned towards him. I have no idea what happened between you two, because, let's face it, you weren't that drunk at the time. So you kissed the heck out of his mouth...''
''I am mortified. I CAN'T REMEMBER HIM AT ALL. When I got out of the bathroom at my place, he was gone. Nothing but a note on my pillow.''
''Oh, what the note say?''
''I can't tell you N.''
''Great. I am freaking Sherlock Holmes here and you can't even tell me... oh great. Now he's gone.''
''What?''
''He's not there anymore. Creepy little thing I gotta tell you. You'd better pray, Gwen that this is the guy from last night and not some shithead that's after you.''
''Yeah, you're right. Anyway, anywho, it was a one-night thing, and let's leave it to that. If this is him watching me, then he's way too coward to come forward'', I guess.''
''But the s*x was good, right?''
''Ah, don't get me started Noemi. What I can remember is that it was out of this world... too good to be true.
