58 Sophie’s leg was agony and her arm felt like it’d been hit with a sledgehammer, but they were nothing compared to the irritation caused by the pain in the arse sitting next to her. She didn’t know whether to feel annoyed or distressed at Alex being there, but the fact she didn’t feel comforted or reassured told her a lot. Whichever way things went next, their marriage was over.
