40Sirens echoed below the ridge, red lights flashed from vantage points on the houseline, more dipped and rose in the valleys of the park, following the fire, powerless to do little else. Choppers with spotlights crowded the sky, gawking at the devastation below. Slashes of light crossed and re-crossed the cliffs, hovered over the group of women and men in a huddle waiting for rescue and dashed off only to return and hover a little more.
