I cursed once I hung up the phone.
I had assured myself over and over again that Mia would be safe back in the city. I had to tell myself that in order to leave.
The last few days had been trying to say the least. Without access to the resources I'd had as a detective, I was forced to rely on the few contacts I had outside of the precinct. I was fortunate that Jay, my hacker buddy, was so intent on paying me back. I wouldn't have gotten as far as I had without his help.
