The redheaded woman watched the boats bob up and down in the harbor. The wind had turned bitter since she’d left the boarding house earlier, so she pulled the collar of her heavy coat up close round her neck to keep out the chill. She crossed the street from the quay and strolled along Merrion Street, gazing in shop windows and enjoying the brisk air until something displayed in the Abbey Bookstore caught her attention and she went inside.
