The game hadn’t gone well. O.B. couldn’t concentrate during the pre-game strategy meeting. He’d kept having thoughts about the last two nights with Avery, the upcoming airing of his interview, the fact that he would be seeing Avery in the locker room after the game, and, most annoying of all, and much to O.B.’s surprise, the interview Avery would be doing with Neil. As a consequence, he’d misread a couple of batters, given the pitcher the wrong signals, and it had cost the Thunderbolts a couple of runs. They had won the game but O.B. came off the field and into the locker room disgruntled and frustrated, blaming himself for the near loss. Fuck, I wouldn’t have been thinkin’ any of that s**t if it weren’t for the stupid interview. I’d be concentratin’ on my job and on goin’ out and findin’
