While recovering in his arms, Annalise became aware that he was stroking her back and her hair. He was murmuring little sweet words in her ear, words that weren’t making much sense, but she didn’t care. She was completely and utterly taken by Lance, by her reaction to him.
“I think I blew it again,” he said, playing with her hair.
Annalise smiled and snuggled a little closer, tucking her head under his chin and nuzzling his chest.
“You blew, all right, Mr. Hamilton. But I think I blew first… again and again…”
His chest heaved as he chuckled.
“You’re such a naughty girl, Miss Walsh.”
She closed her eyes and pressed her cheek against his chest, listening to the beating of his heart.
“I’ve missed this so much, Lance… I’ve missed you.”
