When Destiny had read about halfway through Illusions, a quote perched itself starkly upon a single page:
“You are never given a wish
without also being given the
power to make it true.
You may have to
work for it,
however.”
She reread the few lines over and over to cement the words within her consciousness. She was beginning to understand that she really was in control of her life. She realized that she alone had the power to mold it by being aware of her actions and reactions. She thought again about her name and why her mother had chosen it for her. Perhaps, she thought, it had something to do with teaching me that I have the power to create my own destiny.
