Afterword
Moving to Guadalajara has been life changing for me, and now it is seeping into my writing. Though all the characters are fictional, one in particular was inspired by two people I know in real life. I met a young woman here at the Airbnb I live at who told my fortune using tarot cards and cigar smoke. That’s when the character of Twyla came into being. I also have a friend back in Richmond who is very similar, so I loosely based Twyla on the two of them. She’s my favorite character I’ve created to date. I hope the longer I live in Mexico, the more creative my writing will be.
