Chapter 8
On the Tuesday morning that Joe Donatelli’s office went up in flames, Doug Easton walked into the offices of Hartfords at nine, intent on finalizing preparations for his mid-morning appointment. As soon as he reached his office, though, his secretary informed him that Mr Hartford wanted to see him straight away. Doug deposited his brief case on his desk and made his way to the senior partner’s suite on the second floor, hoping Mr Hartford wouldn’t keep him too long.
Mr Hartford’s personal assistant ushered him into the meeting room as soon as he reached her desk. Doug wondered what was going on, as the senior partner usually made him wait whenever he summoned him to his office.
