Chapter 7
Stella spent most of Friday in the Supreme Court building, first waiting to be called to testify, and then spending half an hour on the stand presenting her evidence to the court.
For Stella, it was an interesting experience being interviewed by Shaun, in his role as public prosecutor, and then having to stand her ground when Genovese’s lawyer did his best to discredit her evidence.
When she got back to the office, Brian was waiting for her.
‘How did it go?’
‘The usual s**t. Genovese’s lawyer basically called me a liar and accused me of fabricating the evidence connecting his client to the murders.’
‘You don’t look too annoyed about it.’
Stella shrugged her shoulders and sat down. ‘We’ve done our bit, Brian. It’s up to the jury to decide now.’
