Knox The drive to the city feels never-ending. Every red stoplight, every slow-moving car in the fast lane, every single second of waiting torture me. My knuckles are white on the steering wheel and the engine roars beneath me as I press the speed limit more than I should. I don’t care. I need to see her. I need to get through to her before the lies that Monica spread consume everything. Instead of going back by plane, I decided to take one of my cars at the penthouse. I need the air to clear my head but I feel worse. The mansion becomes visible just as the sun sets in the afternoon, casting a golden light onto the driveway. Emma’s mother’s car is gone, good. It's a week day, so she should be at the company. That gives me a small window. I kill the engine, grab my phone, and step out. M
