Chapter 14

JULIETTE "Your Highness, your health is improving very well." said a healer who came to see the Queen's condition. He is the ex Priest of the nearby temple who decided to be the Royal Palace’s Royal physician.   "Is that so? It is all thanks to this young lady who is also to become the future Queen!" the Queen said in Joy. I didn’t get shocked at all, whenever someone checks on her, she would say that.   While I in the meantime am keeping my fake smile on.   "It is truly magnificent that the young miss can cure your majesty." the healer said while looking at me with happiness in his eyes.   "I just stumbled upon her majesty's disease when I was reading a medicine book at my early age." I lied.   I won't be caught right?   "If I may ask, what medicine book is it young miss?" the healer asked with curiosity.   "My grandma's medicine book."   If I recall, my grandmother at my mom's side is a former healer. That explains the medicine books in our library back in the mansion.   "Felicia De Vlou, my grandmother's name." She is the adoptive mother of my mom.   "Oh my! The great healer!?" the healer gasped in shock.   "Yes, but I can't remember what book it is so I don't know if I can lend it to you," I said.   I hate to lie but what can I do? What choice do I have? To tell that I am not from this era and I'm an alien who came from earth? That'll make things complicated. It is already complicated as it is!   After the chat, the Queen said to have a walk with her in the rose garden. Her wounds are beginning to heal and fade because of the calamine lotion.   It is a herb that can make a wound disappear without a scar left on the skin. So her majesty is already in the get-well stage.   "The weather is nice, isn't it dear?" the Queen said while looking closely at the rose. She looks closer and smells it. A smile appeared on her beautiful face as she savor the fragrance of the flower.   "Indeed your majesty," I said.   "I heard from my son that you do not wish to be married to him."   I look at the queen but she's still looking at the roses. I sigh and look around, then I muttered 'yes' enough to be heard by the queen.   "I also know the deal you propose to my dear husband. It is risky yet you continued. I wondered what makes you this courageous to the extent you will risk everything even your life." she looked at me with a warm smile.   "I wish to be free your majesty."   "Free?"   "Yes"   "Are you not free right now?"   I look straight into the queen's eyes and said.   "No"   "In what way you are not free? You have everything that you want. You are beautiful and the most beautiful young lady in the Kingdom. You are born with a golden spoon in your mouth, you are the only daughter of Duke Claude. What is it that makes you not free?"   "I want to be a normal person. I want to choose the man that I'll marry in the future. I wanted to break free from the responsibilities. I--...."   I stop because the next line would disgrace my family...   "Continue, I will not judge you, dear..."   I look at her and I can see she is a trustable person. Her eyes tell that she can keep anyone's secret.   "I want to be a commoner..."   I'm sure if anyone could hear what I said. They will judge me. I have everything yet I am hoping for the impossible.   Even commoners would know I am not one of them for my appearance is not that common enough to be part of them.   "It is impossible and you know it right?"   I nod   "Back when you were still a child. You used to cling to my son a lot... What happened?"   I didn't answer because I am not in the position to answer that. I am not the real Juliette after all. If she's here. She'll agree to marry the prince. She's deeply in love with him after all. But I know that If she's here. She'll make things better. She'll change and approach the one she loves in a way she didn't have to put someone's life in danger...   "I just... Suddenly stopped. My feelings stopped at the moment when I laid my eyes to sir Adrian Veltin." I said.   Adrian Veltin was supposed to be Juliette's fiancée but since Juliette is in love with the prince. Veltin Household was forced to annul the engagement.   "Is that so?" the queen said and put her palm on her cheeks pouting at me.   "You are suited to be with my son. Though I can't force you since your real fiancée is Sir Adrian from Veltin Household."   For some reason, I felt relief. Adrian is such a nice person so I think I should get back to him and think about an escape plan later on.   "If that's what you really wish, then I have nothing against it. I just want my son to have the kindest woman to be his wife."   I cringe at what the queen said. Kind? The real Juliette doesn't have that word in her vocabulary.   RIP   I will just go with the flow... For now...   (edited)
