Chapter 2

JULIETTE

Juliette's story is called The Happily Ever After.

Anna, a Viscountess, is in love with the Prince, who is also in love with her. And the cliché part is there's someone who wanted to break them apart.

And that is the body I have presently occupied. Juliette is the beloved daughter of a duke in the Oltaire Kingdom. Juliette and the prince had an engagement that was broken off when Juliette turned 18.

Out of greed, Juliette forced herself to kill the crown princess, who is Anna, the prince's beloved.

And the King forced the prince to marry Juliette instead. The prince was so heartbroken that he knew all too well that Juliette was the one behind his lover's death.

Juliette tried her best to get the prince's love and attention but the prince remained faithful to his dead lover.

Even after the coronation, the King did not show any feelings for the Queen, who was Juliette. Juliette herself focused on spending a lot of money on her interests.

She tortured innocent maids. Killed without care and even had a man behind the king's back.

The king sentenced her to death but her father took it upon himself to save his beloved daughter. He said that he was the one who robbed half of the kingdom's money and used it on himself.

Juliette was heartbroken and her character took a turn for the worse.

Then her beloved brother died next. He was appointed by the king to go to war and he was killed because they were ambushed by another kingdom while resting.

One night, she made her move as she stabbed the king with the knife she had sneaked in with her. But then, her joy at finally getting revenge was short-lived.

The king was not in bed! Suddenly, the door opened and knights rushed in to surround her with their weapons pointed at her.

She searched the room with her eyes, which landed on the man in the center.

She threw her knife toward the king in the last attempt. But the king blocked it with his sword. The Queen was taken away by the knights and imprisoned.

The next day, the prince decided to publicly kill the greedy Queen. The King held a public execution for the people of the kingdom to witness the fall of the Evil Queen.

Dressed in rags and her hair a mess, she didn't invoke even an ounce of pity from a single soul, there was only the people's anger towards this Queen.

The priest declared her sins while the people threw rocks and food at her. But, before she was beheaded, she saw the most despicable sight.

She saw the two most hateful people ever...

The King and his dead lover.

Anna...

Yes, Anna had survived. And that's the reason why the book is titled Happily Ever After.

AND THAT'S WHY I NEED AN ESCAPE PLAN.

I don't want to be in that situation now that I've been given another chance to live!

3 days later

I am now fully recovered. Today, I plan to surprise the maids and butlers of this household. I wanted to apologize and I needed their trust. And I will work hard on obtaining it!

"Elsie," I called my maid.

Elsie is the same age as me. She was a former countess but her family committed a capital offense. So King Alfous ordered the execution of everything.

But Elsie survived. The king considered whether or not to kill her. In the end, the king realized that Elsie was innocent and decided to keep her alive. She was only 5 when the king killed all of her relatives. Then she was given to us.

No, scratch that. She was given to me as my maid. Though I haven't treated her well since childhood...

Shivering, she turns to face me.

"Yes My Lady?" She said.

I motioned her to come near me. When she's already in my front, I am sitting on the edge of the bed.

"Tell me. Are you afraid of me right now?" I asked. She avoided my gaze.

"Tell me the truth."

She looked at me and nodded her head. I sighed and smiled at her as I hugged her.

"Listen, from now on. Don't be afraid of me, okay? Because from now on I will not hurt you. Though I can't promise I will not hurt you all the time, I will permit you to hurt me if I ever hurt you, okay? Because you deserve justice for yourself."

I gently pull away from the hug when I see her trying to control the tears in her eyes which were about to break free.

Oh her priceless face, pfft!!!

"I'm so sorry for the things I did to you, Elsie. I hope you have it in you to forgive my previous misconduct."

She looked up and smiled at me. Elsie was a beautiful girl with brown hair accentuating her fair skin and eyes like the ocean, reflecting her kindness.

She could be friends with everyone and make even a royal fall in love with kindness and beauty.

But in the story, she falls in love with the prince's secretary. A marquess, the son of the Amoral household, Chris Amoral.

But because of me, she couldn't be with the man she loved. Because I was a traitor. And a traitor's servant is also a traitor in the eyes of the people.

Everyone took it for granted that she was killed by an assassin but...

It was Chris Amoral who accidentally killed her.

I was sleeping and Chris snuck into my room to kill me. But then Elsie showed up and took the stab that was meant for me.
