Ember woke when a beam of sunlight kissed her face with a gentle glow. Her eyes opened to Will’s presence in a chair nearby. She immediately sat up, embarrassed at having her arms over her face and her legs splayed out in a total disregard for dignity. How must she look? Her Alt chimed, registering the change from sleep to alertness. “Ember. How are you feeling?” Will couldn’t help himself. He reached out and touched her face.
