CHAPTER FOURJune 18, 2004 The drive home from Parris Island to the tiny town of Gloucester, North Carolina, was a little over eight hours. During the drive Briggs realized that to his family and friends, he was Scott, the boy who grew up on the Outer Banks and loved fishing and being on the water. For everyone who knew him as a Marine, he was Briggs. He felt like a man with two identities, two lives—and he was okay with that. In fact, the two identities fit him well.
