Chapter Six

1175 Words
Damn you Michael for your cryptic messages. You’re no help. I struggle a little as I turn around and face a gorgeous face. His slightly curly chestnut brown hair sweeps down, a bit like a mullet, there’s faint acne scars near his jawline, and his lips are a little dry. The sun streaming in through the window shines onto his long eyelashes. I stare at them then they move. His eyes are opening, what do I do? I’m captured by the colour of his eyes. They aren’t a clear blue and they aren’t a dirty blue but sort of a greyish blue with a little green. It’s stunning. I almost miss what he says. “Good morning,” he says, his voice rich but not deep nor was it squeaky. It was beautiful. “how long have you been up for?” “Only a bit,” I murmur. “maybe five minutes?” I plant a kiss on his cheek. I don’t even know this person. Well I probably do, I’m in his bed. But, it just feels right. He strokes my hair and kisses my forehead. I feel so warm, so safe and strangely, loved in a way I’ve never felt before. A fuzzy feeling arises in my chest. “Just five?” “Mmm. What day is it?” “Sunday, why?” “Wanna go out for breakfast?” “Sure, why not. Anything for my beloved Vickie.” Another kiss on the forehead. He crawls out of bed and I do the same, a mirror is directly behind me next to the bed. I look, older? It’s a shock that I manage to contain only to my thoughts as I take in the changes. My boobs look bigger, I’m a little taller and my once completely raven black hair now has dark purple streaks in them. I only noticed because of the sunshine. The tattoo is still there. Except it looks like it belongs now that this body is more mature looking. I still have that white dress on. I think I smell a bit too. I turn my attention to the room. Clean, a bed against one wall, to the left of the bed is the walk-in-wardrobe, bathroom and door to the rest of the apartment, to the right of the bed are windows. That’s where the light is from. A cushioned bench with books under them, blankets and dimmed fairy lights. Across from the bed is an exposed brick wall with a T.V mounted on it and a white vanity underneath. I need to figure out what his name is. I hear the phone ring. “I’ll get it.” I say, this might be my chance. “Hello?” “Nick?” “Uh, hey it’s Vickie, Nick’s girlfriend?” “Oh, hey Vickie, it’s Jack, can you let Nick know that soccer is cancelled this week but we have training instead of the game.” “Sure,” I turn to the bathroom. “Nick, Jack says instead of a game this week you have training.” “Ok babe.” He says back. I hang up and his name rings around in my head. Nick, Nick, Nick. Nick what? My curiosity seems to get the better of me. I walk into the wardrobe and see the clothes everywhere. I walk over to what looks to be soccer jerseys. They’re all lined neatly, all of them yellow and blue. Cera 15. Nick Cera. I smile, then see women’s clothing. I guess those are mine. I decide to keep on the white dress and grab a denim jacket. It fits pretty well. Yep, definitely mine. Might be a good idea for some shoes too. I find a pair of white sneakers. Nick walks in and says to me: “You look cute today.” “Thanks” I murmur, blushing softly. “I have something for you.” He goes to the other side of the walk in wardrobe to the dresser and pulls out a flat box. “Open it.” Inside was a beautiful white gold necklace with a book. “It’s beautiful. I-, It’s, beautiful. Thank you!” I throw my arms around Nick. He kisses my cheek. We walk out to the café and eat. “Your hair looks beautiful today.” I blush. He takes his phone out and takes a photo. “This doesn’t capture your beauty, nothing can.” I smile. The man of my dreams. “I love you.” “I know,” Ahhhhh he made a Star Wars reference. Yes yes yes. This is the man of my dreams. “and that necklace looks beautiful on you. You know what would also look beautiful?” “What?” my heart quickens with anticipation. He gets down on a knee next to me. “This ring.” From out of his pocket, a small black box, inside a white gold ring. A simple band and inside was the words, forever in my handwriting. “The ‘forever’ is from the first letter you wrote me on my birthday the first year we dated. I still have that card and cherish every one of them that you’ve made for me. Victoria Bones, I am in love with you. I have been in love with you for a while and I don’t know what life without you would be like. I want to spend the rest of my life with you, if you’d have me. Will you marry me?” I was gobsmacked. I looked at the man that I had only met as me for not even a day, yet in this world, have probably known for a few years. He was beautiful and I love him. Something in me knows I love him. “Yes.” It was almost a whisper. Then I hear clapping from one person. Then another. Soon, a resounding applause. “Yes.” I say again louder, tears starting to fall. I give him my hand and the ring slides perfectly on my finger. I lean down and kiss him. He lifts me up by the waist and spins me around. I squeal. “What do you say we pay the bill and take a walk by the river?” He takes my hand and guides me down the river. “Have you seen much of Ana lately?” I say, trying to spark conversation to find out more of what’s happening. “Last I heard she was going to the seaside for some sculpture inspiration.” “ahaha, that sounds like her.” Silence falls again. “Guess what?” He says, a spark of excitement in his voice. “What?”
